I recently spoke with someone in the capital. I was told something striking: Addis Ababa is no longer a city for ordinary citizens. In the past, people could travel to Addis to visit relatives, conduct small business, and return home. Today, that is no longer possible for most, largely due to the cost of living and other things.

Ordinary people are increasingly disconnected from the capital and other major cities because they simply cannot afford to exist in them or due to rules and regulations. With more than 80% of the population being rural and over half living below the poverty line, urban life has become inaccessible to the majority.

Current urban development projects, such as the so-called corridor developments, appear to primarily benefit wealthy elites, politically connected groups, and foreign investors, rather than the broader population. These spaces feel exclusionary, serving a narrow segment of society while sidelining the everyday citizen.

As a result, the country appears increasingly divided between those who have wealth and political power and those who do not. This widening gap risks deepening social alienation and undermining the sense of shared national ownership of the capital and major cities-even the country. You cannot make that thing people centered because it is an alien environment build mostly by alien assistance without balancing overall national development.

The problem is that I don't have irrational hate for Abiy. Do you how much I love Haile Selassie? There is no regime more hateful than the Derg because it was stupid. The feudal regime was an unjust regime, but those people loved Ethiopia. If you see members of the royal family today, they all love Ethiopia. When was the last time you saw a woyane member ever passionately loving Ethiopia? Almost never! They hate the word 'Ethiopia'. Abiy Ahmed loves Ethiopia, period. So, Ilike him.

As far the Ethiopia of my generation, it is all documented in black and white, in blood and tears. But Ethiopia has to modernize. Ethiopia must enter 21st century.

I just posted a skate park for the Cool Kids. That is what make my heart filled with joy. Each and very one of the shanty slums we romaticize so much about must go. This is not 1960, 70, or 90s. We are into high speed train, electric cars, AI aided classes and high rise living.

Absolutely! I was his fan when he began. I thought he was a PhD, practicing Christian, mixed ethnicity (Amhara and Oromo) and multilingual a rare combination of traits to make him the best Ethiopian unifying leader for the time. He knew what the problems of EPRDF were. He knew Ethiopians hated ethnics politics and the segregation it caused. You know what he did after he took office. Too much to count. After his noble prize everybody expected him to be peace maker not war monger. He deceived evangelical churches, the most fanatic ones by giving land and creating his own church council defiling the holy church. He divided EoC in his own terms though the skeleton is there. The evangelicals worshiped him. His wife sung in the strictest evangelical churches. While listening to his own so-called prophets, hate preaching pastors burgeoned. He allowed the irecha worship for political reasons. He promoted Sidama to practice killing animals and to read intestinal fat (MORA GELACH). Other forgotten pagan practices burgeoned among all other ethnics. As a strict Christian of evangelical nature, I would not expect him to promote this. He aligned with UAE. Runing to Arabs was not in traditional diplomacy cookbook of Ethiopia. Arabs tend to work against Ethiopia starting from Egypt.
He plays games instead of behaving a father figure or an exemplary figure for the country who should solve differences in peace. He has very unreliable very shifty personality. This is not what the country needs for salvation from ruin of further destruction. I wish he behaves as practicing Christian at last and leave the office in peace. unfortunately, he believes, God gave him the power which is absolutely wrong in this era from Christian perspective. He feels nobody should question his authority and will keep fighting until his defense force is done. In the meantime the country will remain in trouble until a redeemer succeeds.
