I saw the following video recently and accidentally on the internet and understood it as about someone who is specially gifted and yet young (I understand that he is just 22 years old). He was chatting with PM Abey on the occasion and praised as a scientist by speakers of the occasion. But according to the second video I came across just today, he just went to a community college, not even yet in a formal university, which is in year 2017. I really wonder about how did that worked for the young man to become a nationally celebrated scientist. I just wonder if he is indeed a gifted young man but perhaps lacked the necessary resources, or is OPDO just trying to stage something out of proportion?

He seems to have really something to aspire about. "Start small and you can reach big" is what he said. I think to have heard many big and global players started small and today they dominate the globe in their field of activities.

Let's live long and see what "Engine Dynamic" will be, say in about 10 or 20 years time.

As much as I was inspired, I was disappointed with the video.

We see a party balloon flying and they've the audacity to call it a launching of Satelite to space?

What kind of magic is that?

The ceremony was fine for his imagination & experiment but, no mini Satellite was launched; it is a fake news.

They should take this video down; and put out Dr. Abiy's speech with appropriate presentation of what the kid accomplished.

I also felt the same thing but for the age of the young boy, it is a big achievement, forgetting about their mixing of airborne object with a space-borne object.

Satellite is a space-borne flying object (on an Orobit) while the balloon they showed is an airborne object.

Dr. Abey said in his speech we are dreamers. I think the power of dreaming is not unimportant to make a change. Better make a mistake and learn from it, rather than do nothing and avoid the mistake, in my view.

My view is that OPDO officials lack adequate understanding of what science is, still they said we have to stay there and be part of the happening on the ground. After all they didn't flee their country but still managed to leave behind whatever that country achieved today, it bears their stamp.

This man is young and aspirational, who embodies the type of people that could have made the difference had they been given an opportunity, in my view.

It is unfortunate that the world wouldn't give an equal opportunity to all but still tempted to judge all based on unequal opportunity.

Our curse didn't stop there but we also managed to produce those who went an extra step to trade in the lives of their own fellow young citzens to nurture their own personal profits in politics. Politics is dirty, like it has been said many times before, but it went on to be even an ugly face today with us, unfortunately. It lives today by eating up the young and perhaps bright in the society. Ethiopian university students are nowadays the prestigious commodity to trade with their lives for politics.

I heard him some where saying that he had to go to community College because he couldn't afford to go to the universities, which are generally regarded to be better equipped to educate such aspirational students.

He said in one of his public interviews that he wishes to go back and give back to the community he grew up in and I hope the politics of today that is bent on trading on human lives would spare this young man. The ugly politics!

Having said that, you know this Satellite thing has bothered me; I looked at additional videos "Defend" provided & learned more about the young man! We have to give it to him, he is a very smart kid; I wish him all the best!

At 35,000 ft, you are 7 miles high. At that altitude, you are about 10% of the way to outer space. His "balloon propelled vehicle" flew at 37,000 ft if I am not mistaken.

I found another video that show his work in much better way. the "vehicle" was above the cloud and camera recording shows it closer to outer space.

The following video should have been a better presentation with Dr. Abiy. Girum Chala, (the lost reporter) was there. Girum has disappeared from his normal reporting these days and it's good to see him again. I like his confidence!
