Defending Awash

As a proud Agame myself, it used to bother me when I see our Weyane brother Awash weaponizing his agame identity and using it as a derogatory term to insult Eritreans. Until one day he explained his tactics to me as follows:

  • 20 years ago, Susan Rice sat down in a meeting with our great leader Meles Zenawi, and other high level TPLF officials, to discuss ways to demonize Eritrea as part of the psychological war she ordered the TPLF to carry out. When she asked them "what do Eritreans hate the most?", our TPLF leaders unanimously answered "they hate us agame."

"Good!" said Susan Rice, before ordering our TPLF leaders to use the word as an insult on Eritrean leaders, hoping to make the Eritrean people view their leaders with suspicion. She called it a "Reverse Psychology." She recalled how the same tactic was successfully used in Iran, when the anti Iran media were made to portray the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a "Jew," despite his comments about how he wants to see "Israel disappearing from the map."

Ever since my Weyane brother Awash explained to me about his tactics, I stopped worrying about our Agame identity being used as a weapon against Eritreans. I share the same concerns as brother Abdelaziz in regards to the risk involved when you degrade your own identity to achieve something great, but that's the risk we Weyane have to take if we are to fight against Eritreans to achieve our Greater Tigray Republic dream. So please don't hate the Weyane player Awash, hate the game.

Thank you.
Long Live Our Weyane Brother Awash!
