በዛሬይቱ ኢትዮጵያ ከፍተኛ ትምህርት የለም የሚለው የዶ/ር ብርሃኑ መደምደሚያ እጅግ ትክክል ነው ።
አሁን አሉ ከሚባሉት 40 ወይም 50 ኮሌጅ ተብዬዎችን አንዳችውም የምርምር ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሚለውን ስም ሆነ መለኪያ አጠገቡ አይደርሱም ። ስለዚህ ወደ ፊት ሁለት ወይም ሶሶት መሰረታዊ ምርምር (ፉንዳሜንታል ሪሰርች) ትኮር የሆኑ ከባድ የእወነት ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች ማቆም ገድ ይላል ።
ከ10 የማይበልጡ መለስተኛ ምርምር (ተግባራዊ ምርምር) ተኮር የሆኑ የእውነት ኮሌጅ ተባሉ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ማቆም ግድ ይላል ።
የቀሩት በሙሉ 30ቹ ማህበራዊ ኮሌጅ (ኮሚኒቲ ኮሌጅ) መደረግ አለባችው ። ትኩረታቸውም ሙያ ላይ እሆን አለበት ።
የሶስቱም ሲስተሞች አክሬዲቴሽን አለም አቀፍ መለኪያ ላይ ማቆም ።
ለዚህ ብቁ ያልሆኑት ወደ ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ት/ቤት ወይም የድህረ እድሜ ተማሪዮች ማእከል እንዲደረጉ ግድ ነው
We were lead by leaders who publicly claimed saying "we don't need quality, we need just quantity" and crafted the corresponding policy accordingly.
Now it seems to me just a sort of "wuha qedu, wuha melesu" and now we are all for quality, suddenly.
Accreditation is a kind of quality assurance of the subject (product) under consideration. In the case of University accreditation is a title that the concerned university is qualified to give the educational training it claims to offer qualitatively according to its name. This is a high level educational performance quality assurance.
What about the rest of the institutions (organizations) in the country? Do they really have some kind of quality assurance (abbreviated as QA in the rest of the world) procedure in place that will guarantee that the product they provide to the market (the wider public) has got the required quality is in place?
Do many of the companies in the country have got a kind of procedure for QA? If we have not even yet “accredited” our own home-grown coffee to have the best quality standard that corresponds to its status as the birth-place of coffee, then the distance to when we will achieve accrediting our universities must be very far away, I am afraid.
