Qosye, a aborder town of with Hadiya and Yem Special Wereda, is now a ghost town. Terrorists from Hadiya killed and beaten residens of the town. They looted shops and homes. They burnt schools, homes and the town's administrative offices, sometimes in the presence of local police and ENDF Commandos.
End of last year, they organized motorbikes, bajajs and buses in Hosana for more than a week, with express permission of Hosana police, 1000s of them they travelled to Qosye and rampaged the city. Beaten many residents of the town. Looted shops.They killed one and wounded many. And burnt shops, schools and homes. Then, they returned to Hosana at the end of the day. None of them were arrested.
A large area of the town are now occupied by Hadiya natives. They occupied Gurage lands. Some moved in the houses vacated by Gurages who fled the town out of fear for their lives and of their families. Some are newly built on Gurage plundered by Hadiya natives without legal papers from Gurage Zone. Most of the newly built homes are owned by Hadiyas who have residence in South Africa.
