I don’t know if you understand Geez. I would appreciate if any one could write down in Geez and amharic translation what they say when they sing. May be melket who appears to understand Geez? can help!

I know this is organic axumite worship I suspect mostly hinged on old testament. It would be interesting to compare it with how first century christians were worshiping. I know they, early christians, used to live simple communal life and worship together in simple ways. Many musical complexities, liturgical process and traditions are a late addition. Also I wonder how their priestly sticks developed whether that is also yaredian in origin. Does the stick has any resemblance to the cross or how did it come into practice? For sure I know the attire is completely of Jewish and old testament origin. EoC need modern theology school instead of Abnet kolobet. People have the right to understand and know what is being said and the origin of the worship itself. Also, christianity means following jesus as he said only he is the way to God the father and the holyspirit is in the earth until the end days to give life and lead people to Jesus and his father. All promises in old testament are fulfilled in Jesus. He is our supreme priest sitting at the right side of the father as the bible says. We all are his servants. All additional practices are of human origin and addition not worth for salvation!
By the way I like their rhythm but only if Jesus centered and what they say is bible focused specially new testament. Otherwise the chant may raise question. From the secular perspective it is a masterpiece of work by yared as even external people give credit to his work!

I used to be interested in your orthodox rhythm and drums but no more. Not for political reason but spiritual reason.I found out it is a traditional thing not really originating from early christian practice. The fact that it is led by Debteras makes it untrustworthy. I was interested because it is supposed to be a christian practice which now I find is a mixed practice. Why do I get concerned? Because this religion affects all political life, violence, governance in the country and every ethnic in the country. It is no more an Amhara Tigre thing. Other ethiopians have the right to challenge and check out the content of what is being preached as a christian thing.
You have the right to criticize any other religion content or practice if not for malicious intent. As easy as that. I don’t respond to all your posts about Protestants specially if I see there is truth in it but you take defending orthodox as a heroism or defending your ethnic. Orthodox is an axumite religion that was continued by zagwe dynasty until the imperial addition of tradition and other things which may not be of christian practice from others perspective. It may be a religion for many Amharas but it is not a religion owned and given to others by Amhara!

I didn’t know he is a devoted Orthodox Christian. But then why in the world he supports a regime that deeply marginalized Orthodox Christians and burn churches.

I am a Geist & I don’t care about religion, but I believe to believe in any religion is a right.
