OPDO is a tribal party.

OPDO was founded by TPLF & it was a coalition of the umbrella party EPDRF that rules Ethiopia for 27 years.

EPDRF changed its name to PP, and OPDO changed its roles as a nucleus of PP taking over TPLF.
Just like EPDRF, PP is a coalition of tribal parties: Oromo PP, Amhara PP etc.
TPLF refused to be under PP & is in a civil war for 8 years.

Ethiopia is ruled by Ethnic ideology as a core pillar of its constitution. The PM of Ethiopia is known as a staunch believer of ethnic ideology.
The PM of Ethiopia is known for his firm remarks: “WE WILL NOT NEGOTIATE ON ETHNIC IDEOLOGY AND FEDERALISM”.
