Ethiopia is becoming a corrupt country, this needs to be told too!

Post by DefendTheTruth » 12 May 2026, 13:10

The so called business community is corrupting our country, they need to be told. If this not corruption, then what is it?

A single individual is being lavishly given upwards of 121 Million ETB at a single event organized for just this purpose, for no obvious reason for the contribution of the individual. But what about the rest?

የተቸገውሩ እኮ ብዙ አሉን ወገኖቼ፣ እነሱንስ ማን ያስታዉሳቸዉ?
A single copy of a book is being sold for 2 Million ETB, what is it?

በገንዘብ እየተጫወተ ነዉ ወይስ ጉራዉን እየነፋ ነዉ? ጉራስ ይንፋ፣ ደሃዉን አይቶዋል?

Let's join around a dining table and see who has got a larger belly, needing more to fill that, do you dare that?

Could you still afford to pay for filling your belly?

Don't expect me I would pay for that big belly at the end!

I think the pick of the power echelon (the "absolute power") in the country rests with the PM, and I don't see him giving any money to the haves, if any he always tries to help those at the bottom, if you doubt please consult the changes at Aware, the former shanty town in the immediate neighborhoods of Ethiopia's government seat in Arat Kilo.

What the PM did was gather the business community and make them contribute towards the rebuilding of the country, where he managed to raise billions of fund to finance the development projects in the country, including the refurbishing of the palace.

He also tried to raise some money from the audaciously talkative diaspora community, by pleading with them for a dollar a day towards developing the country. The overwhelming majority of the diaspora responded with contempt, probably including you.

You can point your finger at others, but be also reminded of your own gilt, when it comes to helping the common home.

OPDO has cadres in millions that it can’t afford to pay so corruption is its way of indirectly paying the cadres. This is not a unique situation. All ruling parties practice this if and when the tax base doesn’t generate enough to fund payroll. This is about survival of regimes. The cadres are indispensable and must be paid. If not, they will either join the opposition or they’ll sabotage the ruling party from inside. Cadres have mouths to feed. As simple as that!

When the Reporter reported the other week that 98 billion Birr was stolen, no doubt by PP thieves, the Addis Ababa Police Chief announced his intenton to indict the newspaper for exaggerating coz only 76 billion was stolen. In the eyes of PP, it was the exaggeration that was the real crime and not the theft of 76 billions. Yep, PP is the most corript gang in Africa these days!

Lencho Leta is being payed for submission to OPDO party in 1994 Lencho Leta turned away from OLF's aspirations for an independent Oromia. Lencho Leta of Dembi Dollo formed Oromo Democratic Front.

While Bekele Gerba also from Dembi Dollo is known for advocating for a multinational federalist Ethiopia with higher levels of regional autonomy. Bekele Gerba was imprisoned and had to resign from OFC due to harassment. Bekele Gerba alliance with Jawar Mohammed in 2019 led him to being pushed out of OPDO

While Lencho Leta made a deal with OPDO in 2018 and surrendered all forms of political warfare

This left OLF with Kumsa Diriba aka Jaal Maroo of Horu Guduru who has been leading a violent campaign against Opdo in Oromia

While Dawud Ibsa Ayana of Welega has made no deal with the ruling OPDO party leading to years of house imprisonment and suspicion of the government accusing him of secretly working with Jaal Maro. Dawud Ibsa Ayana agreed to disarm OLF while Jaal Maroo refused to disarm OLF leading to major division and controversy. Dawud Ibsa Ayana leads the OLF party headquarters in Addis Ababa while Jaal Maroo leads the bloodshed in Oromias forests.

This likely means the vicious behavior of Jaal Marro would actually make him at odds with these old OLF leaders. It seems to me Jaal Maroo wants the power to himself.
