To make a long story short.....

Soon after Great Britain's colonial forces defeated the Italian forces in East Africa to colonize both Ethiopia and Eritrea, the then British military governor of Eritrea, Brigadier Stephen H. Longrigg published an article piece on an Eritrean Weekly newspaper under a fictitious name, proposing Britain's partition plan that would split Eritrea equally between Sudan and Ethiopia-- with the highlands of Eritrea to be annexed by Ethiopia, while the lowlands of Eritrea annexed to Sudan.

It should be noted that, both Sudan and Ethiopia were under British colonial rule when the partitioning of Eritrea was being hatched.

For the record: Brigadier Longrigg's plan to partition Eritrea did not work for the same reason that King Solomon's wisdom prevented a true mother from losing her baby, when a fake mother falsely claiming the baby to be hers, insisted that the king raise his sword and cut the baby in half, in a manner similar to how some low IQ individuals from the dying nation of Ethiopia say... "ኤርትራ ወደ እናት አገሯ ኢትዮጵያ "....

"Divide and rule" was Britain's deliberate imperial strategy used to maintain control of countries under colonization, hence Brigadier Stephen H. Longrigg's characterization of Eritrea as "highland" and "lowland" --- an idea that would later be adopted by some low IQ Ethiopians with evil intents, masquerading as "highland" and "lowland" Eritreans while aggressively pushing Brigadier Longrigg's evil plans to divide the great nation of Eritrea, all the while screaming "Cut the baby in half! or ወደ እናት አገሯ ኢትዮጵያ"

Thanks to the low IQ, Tigrayan-first, Ethiopian-second, eden, the term "lowlanderu" became a popular moniker on this forum for someone hell bent on dividing Eritrea.
