My honest reaction to ‘Das Tal’

Post by eden » Yesterday, 22:31

I took time to do this because this is important to many. I didn’t want to offend folks by dumping cold water. I also wanted to make sure my initial reaction was honest reflection. Well, now I can say that my initial reaction is the same as my well considered thought over a few days.

I only listened to it once or maybe twice.

Das Tal is a terrible thing to say. The country is not dead. Nobody comes back from the dead. This is preaching hopelessness. There’s no way this is beneficial to people.

The only positive thing is it provoked conversation. But overall, it’s unacceptable language and message. If the insinuation was that the country is on death bed, I can see how that would give people purpose to save the country. But it’s self defeating to say Das Tal which is what follows death which nobody comes back from. This is dangerous message because it teaches the futility of struggle, that the country is beyond saving.

If anyone thinks I completely missed the message, I’m here to learn.

Edina shikorina,

There comes a time when denial has to end. With the spread of cancer reaching alarming levels, I have known friends and aquaintaces with terminal illnesses that linger for years of horrible suffering which ends in inevitable death. Ethiopia is obviously unravelling in that fashion. If you can see any way it can be saved from total collapse, please share it with us. Teddy has determined that Ethiopia is not salvagable. He has started the process of grief. He must have thought about this for months. That is what every Ethiopian should be doing now with a view of averting destructive conflicts that are sure to follow. What Ethiopians should be talking about now is how to manage the unravelling the way the Soviet Union did it. They have had enough time to wake up from the hallucinations of a united Ethiopia.

Horus,

Your mental gymnastics to see some positive crumbs in Teddy's clear message is a testament on how much you can go to decieve yourself. We have seen it for years now with your dismal efforts to present the flashy corridors as signs of development when all they are is a feeble attempt by Abiy's PP clowns to hide the disintegration of the nation by flashy displays of a tiny corner. Look at a post by Minilik Salsawi ያለቀ የጠላት ጦር የኢትዮጵያ ሰራዊትኮ ነው። In other words, the notion of one Ethiopia has ceased.

ከተማዋ ተያዘች/ የጠላት ጦር አለቀ! የጥይት ዲፖው ተሰበረ!/ ምርኮ ታፈሰ! ኮማንዶዎቹ በሰልፍ እጅ ሰጡ!

Horesey, what you do is known as sophistry:

Sophistry is the use of fallacious, deceptive, or misleading reasoning, often employed deliberately to deceive or win an argument rather than to find the truth. It involves arguments that sound plausible or rigorous on the surface but are fundamentally flawed. It is commonly used to describe manipulative rhetoric in politics, advertising, and modern discourse.

It has a population, a de facto constitution, institutions, a geography, a history, accumulated knowledge and knowhow over its history, a political leadership of this time, and so on.

Have you concluded if each is unraveling or are you projecting the unraveling of the current political leadership across all of them?

If the insinuation was that the country is on death bed
Dishonest.

Ethnic ideology and ethnic federalism is a cruel and devastating disease created by colonizers and secret conspirators to harm societies. Those who promote it are equally as evil as the conspirators. I don’t know, maybe for its stubborn resistance against Italian invasion, or the benefit of Egypt the conspirators are using it to punish and decimate Ethiopia.

If Ethiopia doesn’t get rid off this crippling and devastating disease immediately then Ethiopia is as good as dead.

Teddy Afro read it well and put it together. His work resonates with millions. He did his part and let us do ours.

Ethnic ideology is alive and kicking in Ethiopia & in 2026
Shows HOW FAR WE FAILED AND FALL DEEP UNDER THE REDLINE AS A COUNTRY.

Probably one of the few times, I have agreed with Eden. The evidence is not there ; Ethiopia is thriving, not dying.
Our cities have been changing to accommodate the current and next generation for the better. In Addis it is not only buildings that keep being built, but also roads for cars, bicycles and pedestrians as well . In the city many parks, football fields, and recreational facilities have been built. Addis is not an exception. Many Ethiopian cities are changing for the better too. In Amhara region, in Oromia and in the south changes are happening. The only noticeable exception is Tigray because of political instability.
The old dirty rivers are no more. They are cleaned out and transport clean water.
The country is on the way to cover the whole Ethiopia in electricity and export to neighboring countries as well.
Ethiopia is on her way to stop for once and all importing wheat from western nations. The wheat production is amazingly growing in lighting speed.
In general, the effort that has been shown to modernize agriculture is impressive.
The effort Ethiopia is showing to benefit from digital economy could be acknowledged as one of the daring move the country has taken. The digital transformation Ethiopia is implementing is essential to provide first class service to the population and combat ጉቦ, which is the cancer of the nation.
Ethiopia is not dying ; anyone who fails to see that she is striving has chosen not to acknowledge it could only be because of political reasons.
Or to appease the diaspora segment that lives on hate.
But the focus should be at Ethiopians at home ; they are the one who are making the future prosperous Ethiopia.

Planning a dignified funeral for a terminally-ill country placed in Hospice Care is ideal because it ensures that its people don't have to make any irrational decisions during a time of grief and mourning,

The skeptics who say "Ethiopia is not dead yet" can see that the country is dying, but have a difficulty coming to terms with the uncomfortable reality that their "turn" to lord over the country will never come. They, of course, will be the first to look for someone to blame for the tragedy, because everyone grieves differently.

Please accept my sincerest condolences in advance.
