This happened two weeks ago on March 26. Even the war raging in the gulf does not deter desperate Ethiopians getting out of the hell-hole called EthioSlavia! But Ethiopian lives are cheaper than the birr. That is why nobody bothered to post the news here. In fact, it did not register as anything out of the ordinary!

Geneva/Obock, 26 March 2026 – At least nine migrants have died and 45 others are missing following a shipwreck off the coast of Djibouti, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said today. The migrants were attempting to cross the Bab el-Mandeb Strait from Djibouti to Yemen on 24 March when the incident occurred. The vessel is believed to have been carrying more than 300 people on board, according to survivors.

Each year, tens of thousands of migrants from the Horn of Africa travel to Djibouti in an attempt to cross the Gulf of Aden and reach Gulf countries in search of safety, stability, and job opportunities. Many are driven by poverty, insecurity, and the growing impacts of climate change. These movements are taking place at a time of mounting instability across the Middle East.

Last year, a boat carrying over 900 Ethiopian migrants capsized while attempting to cross the Red Sea to reach Yemen, but the tragic incident went unreported because like Richard Nixon had said of all of Latin America: "No one gives a sh!t about the place."
But what's even more tragic is the value PP cadres have assigned to Ethiopian lives, further confirming wildly held bias and reinforcing negative stereotypes of Ethiopians as something "no one should give a sh!t about."
