Ethiopia’s Fotyen Tesfay made a remarkable first showing at the marathon distance on Sunday, running 2:10:53 at the Zurich Barcelona Marathon in Spain to set the fastest debut ever by a woman. The time moves the 28-year-old to second on the all-time marathon list, less than a minute behind the world record, and sets a new Ethiopian national record and a course record.
