Next, Iran will target water facilities. Is Ethiopia ready to sell water?

Post by Mesob » 03 Mar 2026, 16:26

From Egypt to Saudi Arabia and the gulf, the Arab's weakest link is water supply. Is Ethiopia ready to sell water at the price of oil?

Mesob,
That was the idea running in my mind not so much in the immediate sense of that opportunity but consider how water is going to become more precious than petroleum in the west Asian future. So, yes, it is critical that Ethiopian national strategist and planners take the FUTURE WATER ECONOMY AND THE GLOBAL STRUGGLE FOR THE CONTROL OF WATER very seriously. This is precisely why Egypt want to have a controlling agreement with Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is the origin of humanity and center of immigration for centuries because of water. It will be the same in the future. As the world relies on green energy more and more and move away from pollution and desertification, Ethiopia will continue to become the refuge of humanity. The rich and wealthy of the world will buy a condo and move to Ethiopia. And of course, in our life time, water will our biggest export commodity.

This why we need to keep up the Green Legacy and greenify the entire Ethiopia so that we can have rainfall of most the year.

Horus,
Under any condition, Ethiopia should never make any agreement that gives a say to Arab Egypt, regarding its natural resources, including water. To add to the points you raised, Ethiopia has two important resources widely available in its territory: water and electricity.
As you know, water is made of two atoms: hydrogen and oxygen, that is separated easily using electricity. This will make Ethiopia also a main source of hydrogen gas that is used to run cars and rockets.

This is precisely why Egypt want to have a controlling agreement with Ethiopia.

Yes, indeed. water is not only the source of marketable hydrogen and oxygen, it is the singular critical implement in the production of zillions of things - it takes water to raise every animal and plant we use. The production of any plant and animal food is unthinkable without water. People never bother to think about the steps, processes, and value-addition in the production everything we need and do. Water is the most precious implement of all. So, we really need to think about our level of national water consciousness.
