TIGRAY —

PM Abiy Ahmed is reportedly angered following the alleged public disclosure of sensitive war plans by a disgraced, retired senior military officer, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Lt Gen Tsadkan is said to have leaked what he described as Abiy Ahmed’s plan to
launch a brief but decisive military campaign at a minimum cost
against TPLF forces in Tigray.
The remarks were reportedly captured on video during a recent meeting he held to a handful of his Tegaru supporters in Addis Ababa.
Those close to the situation say the public disclosure frustrated Abiy Ahmed, not only because it prompted the TPLF to take precautionary measures, but also it suggest that his government was preparing to initiate renewed hostilities by undermining the Pretoria Agreement.
Separately, attention has also focused on similar leaks made by another disgraced, former senior Tigray official, Getachew Reda, regarding Ethiopia’s stance on the war in Sudan.
His indirect admission, however, came despite repeated government denials, issued before and after an investigative report by Reuters exposes Ethiopia's involvement in the conflict.
While responding to criticism from activist Jawar Mohammed, Mr Getachew admitted Ethiopia’s support to RSF rebels were driven by
Ethiopia's long term national interests.
Observers say, the two high profile disclosures are complicating matters for the Abiy Ahmed administration.
