A high-level Ethiopian delegation, led by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Shide Mohammed, Minister of Finance, is participating in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos–Klosters, Switzerland, from 19 to 23 January, under the theme “The Spirit of Dialogue.”
On 20th January, Minister Shide spoke at the high-level session “Africa’s Job Engine,” emphasising the transformative potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in creating inclusive employment for Africa’s youth. He highlighted Ethiopia’s Homegrown Economic Reform Program 2.0, focusing on agri-food value chains, SMEs, light manufacturing, industrial parks, and services linked to urbanisation. He also underscored the Jobs-First AfCFTA Production Compact for 2026 as a framework to expand employment, strengthen regional value chains, and empower youth and women entrepreneurs.
