Egypt is the poorest Arab country it only beats Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and Comoros. U.S. aid is its source of revenue, for its role in Israel and Palestine issue. There is no economic wonder to talk about Egypt.
Ethiopians are very industrious and entrepreneurship-oriented people. However, it is very unfortunate for the country to be in a close distance with the Arab world - which is known persistent violence. Ascari-land has been historically used as their gateway to attack Ethiopia.

The very reason why you sleeplessly stick out your head here all day all year round is to stop Ethiopia being prosperous by serving as mercenary to her historic enemy.
