The Somaliland-Djibouti Conflict

Post by Horus » 31 Dec 2025, 16:09

Djibouti is becoming desperate. This tiny entity is the most irrational and badly managed port city-state, the kingdom of one sheik.

In its effort to stop Ethiopia from diversifying its port sources and block all Ethiopian paths to sea access, it deals and allies with mortal historical enemy of Ethiopia, that is, Egypt.

It consistently tries to black mail Ethiopia on its commercial activities.

Because Djibouti fears the rise of Berbera so much it has tried everything between heaven and earth to block the statehood of Somaliland by helping Somalia to thwart SLR' effort for international recognition.

The Israeli recognition of SLR and American support of this act has hit Djibouti like nuclear missile.

Djibouti's current desperate move is to arm and mobilize the Adal (Adwal) tribe, a people historically so close to Ethiopia and distant Ethiopia blood. The Adals were the people of Harar in the middle ages, in the 15th and 16th century.

Now, what?

Somaliland republic now can build a powerful army, get armed, build a powerful security and intelligence and handle the adwal issue by means of diplomacy or otherwise.

As for Djibouti, it is attempting something losing game. Somaliland is a free state now. Djibouti must think about its permanent geographic tie with SLR.

Djibouti' s plan of using Adal as a buffer between Djibouti and Somaliland will collapse as soon as SLR secures major international alliances and security relations. Djibouti or Adwal state is too small to stand against SLR.

Horsey,

Whether it is Djibouti or Somaliland, you will pay to use the Port. With Djibouti you have the advantage of existing roads and railways. With Somaliland, you have to build them from scratch. And since you don't have the means to do so, someone will build them for you, most likely UAE.

Yu seem to have the stupid idea that you will be getting a free lunch with Somaliland. It will be worse than Djubouti, because it will be managed by the UAE and they will really make you pay. But you are low IQ people who like to be screwed!

That's escalation. Obviously, you expect SLR to a reciprocal hostile action. Then what? End of story or continuous trend?

Sisi,
This is why you are unable to build a country. South Sudan is going to build oil pipeline from south Sudan to Berbera. It is called long and strategic infrastructure.

Ethiopia, just like our Aviation university, just established The Ethiopian Railway Academy. We are building the capacity to smelt our own steel, build our own rails and God willing build our own trains. Forget railway line from Berbera to a short connector to existing Djibouti line, we have a nation railways plan to Welega, Gonder and Tigray.

Ethiopia will be the largest Africa economy in 2050. I don't know about you, I will be here to witness it. Ethiopia is building connection to Lamu port. I am suspecting there will be a railway going to Behan Lake, Beles City next to GERD.

Djibouti just refused to honor private import exporter through the existing state to state agreement. Therefore, the entire private sector just moved to Berbera signed agreement with SLR. Ethiopian economy is now private sector market driven capitalist economy. Djibouti's rent seeking lazy psychology can't move at the speed of Ethiopian dynamics. That why we love the smart intelligent Somalilanders as our business partners.

ETHIOPIA IS A FAST, FAST MOVING MASSIVE TRAIN!!! NO ONE CAN STOP HERE ANY LONGER!
