This pressure pushed Sodo Gurage to seek protection through alliances (notably with the Ethiopian imperial state).
2) Are Sodo Gurage supporters of Abiy’s government, and why?
Support is mixed, not uniform.
Some support Abiy/Prosperity Party because they value state unity, stability, and protection from ethnic-based territorial claims.
Others oppose or are critical due to concerns over ethnic federalism, security, governance, and local marginalization.
In short: historically they resisted external pressure to protect land and autonomy; today their political stance toward Abiy is divided and pragmatic, not ideological.

Huresa besides paper bag money given to him believes PP keeps the central gov and protect Sodo from being swallowed by Oromo like barracuda. That has a caveat because one village or more of Sodo was already Swallowed by killing by Orom terrorists. PP did not save them. PP also real time watching the destruction of Gambella.

As far as the ethnic ghettos and politics stays sodo or similar minorities will be goners. Including Harari etc.
From the above in-fact all sodos are not PP supporters.
This flip flopper became a blackship for Sodo and the rest of Gurage by behaving as if he represents the group. He is causing shame. He should have represented himself on this forum and took responsibility for his actions instead of pulling in his clans and the whole peace loving tribe.

Don’t be surprised if he is outright fanning Biratu Naga’s aka Bir-amtu Nega’s hate for Northerners specially for Gojam and Iigray!

Exactly. The truth has to be told. The midgets have towering leaders of the past with whom they have trouble sizing up. Abiy can never be Menelik, Selassie, Theodor or Yohannes. He could not even stabilize the nation in the past 8 years. He is toiling day and night. He is trying to shape and reshape the country to look like him but not there yet; won't succeed or his mark won't last long like Zenawi. He tried to cry at GERD for attention. He tried to remove Menelik in the Adwa celebration. He tried to call Theodor and other SHIFTA. He failed to be himself. He even could not live up to the demand of his Nobel prize. His million-internet army could not establish his grandiosity. A cat is a cat. A hare is a hare. And of course, a LION IS ALION. You cannot change those small animals into a lion or tiger. Abiy missed his golden hour. He should have built on the support he received in the beginning and listened to Ethiopians to be Ataturk or whatever Huresa wants to call him. He created a fissure dividing the nation into WE and THEM category. He is still in that ailment, and his remaining time will get worse not better as he already lost credit.
It is clear inferiority complex is afflicting many including on this forum. It is a blessing to be self proud
