1.Ethiopia's existential environmental threat is the growing desertification where a substantial portion of Ethiopia's population lives such northeast of Shewa, the whole of Afar region, Harar and Dire Dawa areas of Oromia, Borana and all of the Somali region. In these places, he did little to nothing to 1) reduce plant and tree losses, 2)to reforest the regions and 3) to control flash floods and save the flood waters in reservoirs for irrigation and animal consumption. Instead, I have seen him, in one of his wasteful acts, planting trees on grass in Addis. Totally unnecessary. How fitting it would be an effort of the conservation of the environment if he was seen planting a tree on a ground that is depleted of any plant such as grass!!

2. City renewal happens everywhere and its necessary. I am sure, as you said, there were some who wanted to keep old architectures in places like Piassa. If you call them idiots against progress, I will agree with you.
However, the serious critiques of his Corridor Development had better reasons than these above. They were members of his own PP, members of parliament, opposition parties and the general public including evictees.
Members of parliament, as it is in their power for all public infrastructures to audit, they wanted to audit the corridor projects. They wanted to know where the money was coming as parliament gave no money for it. The wanted to know whether the builder was honoring and implementing the labor, tax and workplace safety laws of Ethiopia. They wanted to know whether evictees were given proper compenstion for their houses and properties. They wanted to know whether they were given enough time to find a suitable home and vacate their houses. They wanted to audit the corridor projects. Abiy Ahmed denied them all the constitutional rights of parliaments and victims of eviction to audit the corridor projrcts and to be properly compensated for loss of their houses and propetties, respectively.
Dictatorship. This is it. You don't have to go looking for it anywhere.

He did exactly the same thing on the New Palace project he called the Chaka Project. He denied parliaments of Ethiopia their constitutional mandate to audit the source of the money, whether the builders pay taxes, whether the builders respect the labor and safety laws of Ethiopia. In the first place, to investigate how the builder got the contract, after public competition or by Abiy's selection.

I grant you that Addis needed a savior. It was discriminated by tplf as the city of neftenyas. Ttplf accused it of getting the lion share of development projects. From this false narrative, Meles developed equal cities theory. That theory allowed Meles to siphon a large portion of the revenue collected from Addis taxpayers to develop backward towns like Mekele, Awasa, Gondar, etc. to reach near the level of Addis.
Come Abiy Ahmed who lived thru it and perhaps hated the huge discrimination Addis suffered for 27 years, he set out to reverse the discrimination.

Dama, I have tried to respond to your first feedback, but I found it difficult to do. Here is why. You have so much information that is not available to me. The part of the desertification of some parts of Ethiopia that you have described is foreign to me. Some of your statements make me to question their accuracy. In Diredwa I have a nephew who work and live there. He has high regard to Mustafe , and he informed me several times that the agricultural change that is happening in Harar and in the neighborhood of Diredwa is fascinating. That contradicts your reporting of the same region agriculture.
As for Abiy becoming a dictator, it is a hard concept to believe. In parliamentary system, citizens do not vote for prime minister. They vote to elect their representatives. Those representatives choose their prime minister.
That by definition means Abiy cannot and will not be a dictator because parliamentarians have the option to choose another one even before his term expires.
