Here you go! The usual conspiracy theory that I am tired of hearing. That some Ethiopian groups, especially those that lack armed groups, do use their language for the sole purpose of hating Amara. This has to stop looking grounds to demonize Ethiopian groups for Amara hate. This amounts to preying on the weak and unarmed.
After all, Amara has enough problems with PP and cushitic minorities with in itself.

True, North Ethiopia had given asylum to the families and friends of the Prophet Mohammed in the 7th C. Of course, there are one of the oldest Islamic learning centers. I know Gurage Imams who completed their islamic education in Wello in the 1950s and returned such as the Qatbare Sheih whose mosque still operates in one of Abeshge weredas, close to Welkite. As to the suggestion that Gurage Muslims received Islam fron the north is preposterous. I think the Christian prominence in the north dwarfed the expansion of Wello islam toward the south.

But, Islam in Gurage dates back the 1200s. Had its own Islamic sultanate which was affiliated with the Adal Sultanate, Ifat Sultanate, Hadya Sultanate, etc. From which direction Islam entered Gurage is clear by virtue of its affiliation. The east.
