Horus that is a smart & a reciprocal request from Ethiopia which Egypt could fulfill easily. Egypt has been abusing the water from the Nile for not utilizing modern technology to minimize water wastage and to use it efficiently and effectively. Egypt has also been building canals to the desert( using the Nile out of its natural course) and perhaps to export the water to Saudi Arabia and other countries, while threatening Ethiopia not to use a single drop of its own water. Egypt cannot make a deal with Ethiopia with this attitude, and I hope Abiy will not sell the Abay river to keep his power. Actually, that is why Axumezana has been pushing the idea of reconciliation between all armed forces in Ethiopia & Abiy. By the end of the 19th Century, Emperor Yohannes defeated Egypt because Ethiopians were united. Abiy has failed to unite Ethiopia after 8 years and exposed Ethiopia to be an easy prey for Egypt.

Exactly, that is what I said. Egypt is trying to use America to pressure and force Ethiopia to sign a deal to benefit Egypt. But US has lost that power when it refused to finance it years ago. Now there is nothing Egypt can do to force Ethiopia. The leverage US has over Ethiopia is IMF loan period. IMF can't cancel that loan for other political reasons by international law. US has already imposed AGOA and no military sale. In other words, US is already out of Ethiopia. Abit just refused to buy 500 million worth Wheat from US because he said he is going to buy from Ethiopian farmers. If Us want to cut out economic activities, very good for Ethiopia. That is Abiy is going every where -China, Vietnam, Brazil, Singapore, Russia, India, Turkey etc Consider this- Ethiopia is digging out its own natural gas, refine it and use it to produce its own fertilizer for domestic and import ... So, don't you ever underestimate Abiy Ahmed. He is tough cookie! Remember how EU used to go around tell us how run our business? When is the last time you heard EU in Ethiopia? They are out.

Horus Axumezana does not support confrontation with USA or EU. USA & Israel are strategic partners for Ethiopia. EU is internally fragmented but we need their money & market as developmental partner. If the confrontation with both USA and EU is going to be bad they can ground Ethiopian Airlines & imagine the consequences. Though Ethiopia has no access to the Sea , Ethiopian Airlines has partially compensated that. Iran is suffering mainly for lack of flexibility .
