President Isaias, visits Port Sudan.

Post by Zmeselo » 29 Nov 2025, 08:20

____________

On the invitation of General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, President Isaias Afwerki arrived in Port Sudan in the early afternoon hours today for a working visit.

President Isaias Afwerki and his entourage were accorded warm welcome by General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and senior Government Ministers on their arrival, by road travel, at the entrance of Port Sudan.

President Isaias Afwerki's visit is both symbolic and vivid gesture of the warm and robust solidarity that Eritrea harbours towards the people of Sudan and their Government in these times of adversity.

The residents of the Port city came out in their thousands to welcome President Isaias Afwerki, chanting in celebration of the historic relations between Eritrea and Sudan. @hawelti

The visit that unsettled the allies and exposed the entire game

(By Makkawi Elmalik) - Isaias Afwerki’s visit to Port Sudan is not protocol at all, it is a political alarm bell for the region.

Eritrea, which stood with Sudan from day one, is now sending a loud message to anyone trying to play the Darfur card or pressure Port Sudan for projects that do not serve regional security.

Anyone who understands the Horn of Africa knows this well:

- Any Ethiopian move toward the Red Sea equals a direct threat to both Sudanese and Egyptian national security. The message now is clearer than the sun.

- Any ally who thinks Abu Dhabi’s offers can shift the direction of their water and national security will eventually learn that the Red Sea is a red line, and that Ethiopia’s access to it passes through Khartoum and Asmara together, not through backroom deals.

Afwerki’s visit today is not just support.

It is a reinforcement of alliances and an indirect response to a specific country that is trying to shuffle the deck and open the door to plans that divide and choke Sudan from its borders.

The message has been delivered, and the Red Sea is not an empty arena.

_______________

Ethiopian Foreign Minister: Ethiopia’s State Formation Still Disputed, and is shaped by a Culture of Violence.

The following is what the current Ethiopian Foreign Minister said about the flawed nature of Ethiopia’s state formation and how it is still contested and shaped by a violent political culture. This is verbatim; I have not added any opinion.
The process through which the Ethiopian state was formed is rather unique on the African continent. In most parts of the world, states are formed through conflict, violence, and bloodshed. That does not make Ethiopia unique. What makes Ethiopia unique—particularly in the African context—is that the violence was carried out by indigenous, native forces. The main protagonists in this process were Ethiopians themselves. By contrast, in the history of most African countries, state formation was the outcome of colonial conquest, with significant involvement of European actors.

So, we have a state formation process driven by local political forces, but we did not have the opportunity to strengthen or cement that process through a social contract, nor did we have the chance to heal the wounds and contradictions that emerged during state formation. As a result, the legitimacy of the state was questioned and contested by some. This contestation has persisted throughout the formation of the state and has been exacerbated by subsequent events. Some have challenged the very legitimacy of the Ethiopian state; others have contested its nature, its vision, its identity, and its narratives. Some have found it difficult to accept its institutions and their configurations. Thus, there have always been fundamental contradictions stemming from Ethiopia’s state formation process, and we have not adequately addressed them in a way that would create consensus among key actors.

Another layer we need to consider is that we have a very violent and autocratic political culture. Whenever there are contests for power, political differences, or disagreements over policy or institutional arrangements, the method of resolving them has more often than not been conflict. Imposing one’s will and vision on others through violence and force has been how we have conducted politics for generations. And once in power, using autocratic means to consolidate authority has been common practice. This autocratic and forceful approach, combined with the flawed state formation process, has produced many wounds, grievances, and violations. We have not been able to address these in a way that is satisfactory to most Ethiopians.

On top of this, attempts to resolve these problems have often been divisive, emphasizing differences at the expense of what unites us. As a result, our politics has become polarized and ethnic-based.

What, Port Sudan - no more Khartoum

In other words, he visited rebel Albruhan in burrow or his hide out; Isaias will not bring with him technology transfer or economic cooperation/benefits, rather how to dig his own hiding place - somewhere in Jeberti lowland. The city of camels, sand and desert cactus. Wow, this is 35 years of Jebeha/Shabia success

It makes me laugh, it is like Isaias going from first-floor to second floor of a home or to the basement. He has no where to go, immaterial for the rest of the nations of the world. Exact definition of a disgruntled rebel. Port Sudan  Sudan already shattered like Eritrea province

On November 20-28, 1989, the Nairobi Peace Talks between the EPLF and the government of Ethiopia/Derg took place under the auspices of former U.S President Jimmy Carter, from the Carter Center.

The parties agreed on the selection of seven observers for the main talks (three from the venue countries—Kenya, Sudan, Uganda—invited by mutual consent, plus UN, OAU, Tanzania by EPLF, and Zimbabwe/Senegal by PDRE).

Out of the seven selected observers, six agreed but the United Nations said no. The response from the United Nations' Secretary General was:

It has always been standard policy for the United Nations to refrain from involvement in any disputes, other than those between member nations. Only on a few rare occasions, after thorough debate in the U.N. General Assembly and an affirmative vote in the U.N. Security Council (which requires unanimity among the permanent members voting) , have we ever departed from this policy. Therefore, the United Nations must refrain from serving as an observer or in any other official capacity in the peace negotiations between the government of Ethiopia and the Eritrean People's Liberation Front.

I wish the two parties every success in their striving for peace.

On June 4, 1990, ex-President Mengistu authorized the Carter Center to extend an invitation to the United Nations on behalf of the Ethiopian government to serve as an observer and the UN reversed its decision & agreed to take part as an observer. Ethiopia was forced to make the decision after Operation Fenkil that liberated the Port City of Massawa, in February 1990.

On June 11, 1990, then Sec Gen. of the EPLF, Isaias Afwerki wrote to Presidents Carter & Nyerere that it had withdrawn from the Peace talks. The EPLF accused President Carter of acting in bad faith, in not wanting to involve the UN in the issue.

The EPLF was right about Carter who in 2005 said

 After Meles prevailed in 1991 & despite my concerns about Eritrean leadership, he granted Eritrea complete independence in 1993, cutting Ethiopia off from the Red Sea & making it the most populous landlocked nation in the world.

Fun Fact about the Nairobi Peace talks

Since the event was during Thanksgiving, the staff at the Carter Center tucked sage for turkey and spices for pumpkin pies into their suitcases to ensure that the meal would be traditional. The meal was served family style, so at each table, which included Carter Center staff as well as members of each delegation and Secret Service agents, one person carved the turkey and everyone served each others' plates.

Afwerki’s visit today is not just support.

It is a reinforcement of alliances and an indirect response to a specific country that is trying to shuffle the deck and open the door to plans that divide and choke Sudan from its borders.

The message has been delivered, and the Red Sea is not an empty arena.

I know the sodomite dictator is out of touch with reality but to see his loq IQ bitches swallowing every crap with out scrutinity is just mindboggling.

How many of Wedi Medhin Berad’s supporters and sympathizers know that Egypt opposed Eritrea’s independence in 1991? At the time, Egypt was at the forefront of countries resisting Eritrea’s independence. Its position was not necessarily based on opposition to Eritrean self-determination itself, but rather on strategic interests. Egypt preferred that the conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia continue, so that Ethiopia would remain preoccupied with regional tensions instead of fully developing and managing its natural resources, especially the Nile.

Even today, Egypt issues statements that appear aimed at pressuring or provoking Ethiopia, including claims about preventing Ethiopia from obtaining a sea outlet. They may speak as though they are willing to escalate tensions, but if an actual conflict were to break out, it is unlikely that they would provide Eritrea with meaningful support.

Patriotic Eritreans, while committed to protecting our independence and sovereignty, are struggling with shortages of basic necessities such as food and essential goods. We want to live normal lives— to be born, grow up, marry, raise families, and build a future for the next generation. This is where the Sodomite dictator failed miserably. Education is neglected; instead of real investment in learning, young people are exposed to propaganda and slogans, Today, wagon pushers have more status than teachers in Eritrea because the salary is just laughable . Technology is restricted because it is viewed as a threat to the regime. Infrastructure remains non existent —this is a regime that has failed even to construct a paved road from Asmara to Tseda kristian which are less than 17 km.

Now, just as the Sodomite rescued the sub-Human Galla, it is diverting Eritrea’s limited resources toward supporting Eritrea>s arch enemies who are Muslim brotherhood. From a patriotic Eritrean perspective, Sudan’s fragmentation should be seen as strategically beneficial—not because the Sudanese people are bad, but because smaller or weakened neighboring states may pose fewer long-term threats to our offspring........But In the eyes of the sodomite, There is no even a plan wihch streches less than 1 year, his preoccupation is how to prolong his rule.

According to some statistics, more than 35 % Eritrean youngsters are malnutrished which will affect their intelligence once they grow up and here is a regime preoccuping itself with sudanese issues.

There is no shame in the mind of the sodomite.....It is like trying to clean the filth of your neighbours while your home is the center of filth.
