Ethiopia should do a public mea culpa
Ethiopia made a public blunder and should now make a public apology and officially withdraw its claim regarding Eritrea's sea coast.
This should be the first item on the agenda before any future talk with Eritrea. The illegal claim has to be walked back.
As long as that claim stands, Eritrea and its Arab Red Sea neighbours should view Ethiopia as illegitimate.

Re: Ethiopia should do a public mea culpa
During the italian period, Eritrea didnt even had any commercial relationship with neither sudan, Ethiopia nor Djubuti, the country product used to be exported to the middle east and europe. Likewise, Eritrea with a visionary leadership shouldnt exhaust neither energy nor money to make an effort to get alone with these backstabbers ....We have a well defined border and it should be sealed and we should look beyond the region to create a robust economy. This is my five cents advice......Otherwise, there is a saying in our langauge.Fed_Up wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 17:20What is your proposal?Deqi-Arawit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 17:01Even if the Galla retract from his teret teret claim, how can you trust these backstabbers? Regardless how soft you treat the southerners, they are going to bit you...
This is their world and unless this illusion is disintegrated onced and for all, even if means that Eritrea join Islamic conference countries, the teret teret will continue unabated.
Eritrea is a smaller body locked in the orbit of a far larger mass Ethiopia. No matter how far it drifts politically, Eritrea cannot escape Ethiopia’s gravitational pull. In geography, economics, culture and security.

This is not about trust and has nothing to do with trust. We had no reason to trust them in 1991 nor in 2018 and we sure have no reason to trust them today nor in the future, but public statements have legal value. As long as Abiy's statements remain standing, we are in a state of openly declared war. Abiy has declared a forever war as long as that claim is not walked backDeqi-Arawit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 17:01Even if the Galla retract from his teret teret claim, how can you trust these backstabbers? If you care to take note, I have two personal views, which are outside some meaningless international laws and out of common sense norms.Fed_Up wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 17:20What is your proposal?Deqi-Arawit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 17:01Even if the Galla retract from his teret teret claim, how can you trust these backstabbers? First, the perception of Eritreans to have a country of their own in the world that we know sounds irrational and out of this world. The people who live in Eritrea live in the confines of East Africa, in Africa, and in the world. They live very close to unmatched land marks in their era yet the Eritreans are the only people I know in the world who would volunteer to fight to detach themselves from it.
Second, having observed some happenstances that are very hard to explain in this world, I am entertaining a theory that there is a divine or a deity in Ethiopia that is very territorial in its sphere of influence, which includes Eritrea and all the people who live in Eritrea. In that case, your fight would have been against the mysterious ways of this power. I invite you to prove me wrong about it. I would rather be proven wrong than you not try it and prove me wrong.
Coming back to the world of reasoning, our region that includes Eritrea appears to have an appointment with the era before the Exodus and that that appointment is emergent in this era. This is far more momentous than the birth of the first Renaissance that pulled Europe out of its Dark Age and medieval anarchy because this one goes deeper than it.
Given these views, it is incomprehensible for me why all Eritreans fail to ask themselves about the status quo of our region today and ask how our region as a whole can be restructured for meaningful self-governance that matches its historical and eternal appointment.
BTW, where in the world is hmantes. He was an intellect that I had a please debating when we stood on different sides of the same issue.
Re: Ethiopia should do a public mea culpa
Seeking a counsel of a bragging functional illiterate and endorsing a counsel from such is a sign that Eritrea is yet to produce a meaningfully literate individuals that can help it. This is one of the participants on this forum that I tried to engage on this forum some 18 years ago and ignored after it became clear to me that he was out of touch about intellectual discussions. I called him son and moved on.Fed_Up wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 21:34^^^ I completely agree with the statements above and wholeheartedly endorse them.TyDeqi-Arawit wrote: ↑24 Nov 2025, 18:00During the italian period, Eritrea didnt even had any commercial relationship with neither sudan, Ethiopia nor Djubuti, the country product used to be exported to the middle east and europe. Aside the issue you are having with anyone or no one’s public statement, do you agree or disagree that Moses was the Pharaoh par excellence?

On that issue I am more with you than with the people you were arguing with. Like you, I find the cultural anthropologic reading of Freud on the identity of Moses facinating and closer to the truth than the biblical story.
Moses, if at all a historical figure, is more Egyptian than anything else. Whether he was a high priest or Akhenaton himself is open to speculation but a plausible theory.
Me, I am more facinated by us, Eritreans, Ethiopians, Somalis and Sudanese than I am facinated by Arabs, Europeans, Chinese or Indians if we only could get our act straightened.
