The Gurage Sultanate 1201-1345
Islam in Gurage predates the victory of Imam Ahmed el-Ghazi against the expansionist Abyssinia. It was also referred to as The Arabini Sultanate of Gurage.

Yea, myself never knew this until very recently pointed out here on ER by a citizen of the former Sultanate of Adal. Wasn't it you Zack? Long live Islam in Northeast Africa!!
It's rooted in our lives. It shapes our uprightness. Our truthfulness. Our kindness. Our hospitalities. Our forgiveness. Our ethics. Our hardwork. And our "Live and let live" philosophy whoever you may be, a jew or kafir.

Arabni Gurage Sultanate appears in this article on the history of the Adal Empire as one of the 7 nuclear kingdoms.

"Adal Empire was composed of seven (7) States. According to the size of their land and the military forces of each state, here is their names: Ifaad, Dawaaro, Araabiini, Hadaya, Sharqa, Baali and Daara, where each of them had its own government. The largest and strongest State Ifaad, known from Egypt and "Shaam" as Zeyla's land, became later the dominant and the central one with its capital city of Zeyla. Ifaad will lead the entire Empire and will face many challenges. According to the historians of that period, Ifaad was large as 20 days of walk from North to South and 15 days of walk from East to West. Its military force was composed of 15000 cavaliers and 20000 of infantries".

Why the Gurage Sultanate was also alternatively called Arabini Sultanate?
I presume it was called Arabini because its semtic language's closeness to Arabic. Some words in Gurage are the same as in Arabic. This is a well-studied and documented fact that I need not illustrate here.

The Sultanate of Arababni was a small Muslim Kilil (Sultanate) located in the region that corresponds roughly to the modern Arsi Zone in the Oromo Region. t was founded and ruled by the Somali people, particularly the Hawiye and Dir clans, along with six other sultanates. At that time Oromo people (both Gurage and Galla) were pagans and had no connection to the Arbabni Sultanate.

Yes, Odious, when you look more at something, you discover more about it.
The same truth applies to history. The more you dig into the past, you discover more history.
The Gurage history is very ancient. It goes back beyond legends, folktales and myths. It's documented but kept locked, archived in the libraries of Egypt and Syria, Yemen, France, Italy, Germany, Britain, and Moscow. Even in the library of Addis Abeba University as Professor Bahru Zewde once said that the PhD, MA and BA history dissertations on Gurage are collecting dusts on the shelves of AAU library.
Gurage is an indigenous people to their land. They have been there as old as time itself. These two Egyptian geographers/historians(al-Umar and al- Makrizi) recorded the existence of a Gurage Sultanate from 1201-1445. They also referred to it as Arabini, most probably due to the semitic language of Gurage having close correlations with Arabic. May be they jokingly asked Gurages, "Are you Arabs, you language sounds familiar?".
According to Prof. Getahun Delibo of AAU, Emperor Amde Tsion in his chronicles or war diaries states that he fought against Gurages in 1314. He fought to conquer them, these natives the land. He did not bring them from Gura, Eritrea.
Martin Bernall, the famous author of Black Athena, a classicist by profession, writes that Gurages are not only indigenous civilization but are the very source of the semitic language. And that they could not have come as Christian soldiers of Azmatchb Sibhat and then later abandon Christianity to become pagans again or become believers in Waq, Bozhe and Mwyet.
Son, give Gurage a chance. Read on it.

Re: The Gurage Sultanate 1201-1345
The majority of Gurage people are Christians, particularly followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Also Gugage origin is Eritrea. So how can you claim that they were Muslims and in Arusi land 10 centuries ago? If so, what and who converted them to Christianity, Are you saying Gurage is Aruso? Ask yourself some basic questions, and then discuss the matter.

Either you know facts, not myths, not legends and not folktales and teach or admit you do not have facts and ask to learn.
Re: The Gurage Sultanate 1201-1345
Okay, tell me about the origin of the Gurage people, where did they come from or where were they before Emperor Menelik? and the percentage of Muslims among them. Don't include the Selte people.
