Eritrea: White harvest (ጻዕዳ ቀውዒ), is truly one of the most beautiful expressions of good winters and bountiful harvests. It symbolizes the hard work, patience, and dedication of farmers who toil tirelessly throughout the seasons. ማዕጺድ ዘስብር ቀውዒ ይሃበና!
From Dubaruwa to May Dima, the farmer in the harvesting season. A journey through hard work, patience, and dedication. As the crops are gathered, it’s a reminder of the resilience and commitment of our farmers.
Eritrea's sub zones Areza and Maydima: Taff is in good condition. Hope for a fruitful harvest!
Our colleagues Berhane Gilay and Mohamed Bukra reported on crop and early harvest in the Southern Zone. Here’s are photos with farmers at the site.

Aaron Ghebre will represent Eritrea
at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2025 this weekend in Toronto, Canada.
______________
Eritrean football has a rich history, blossoming in the 1930s and truly shining through the remarkable talents of its players in the 1950s and 1960s! When Ethiopia claimed the African Championship title in 1962, an impressive 8 of the 11 players were Eritrean. In the thrilling final against Egypt, Eritrean players scored 3 out of the 4 goals, showcasing their incredible talent. To top it off, the captain of this celebrated team was also Eritrean, highlighting the significant contributions of Eritrean athletes to the sport! In 1968, during the Olympic Games in Mexico, the Ethiopian National Team, like the African Champions of 1962, included many Eritreans, including Ambassador Girma Asmerom. In the accompanying picture, the famous Eritrean playmaker Abdurahman 'Pache' is standing first from the left, Ambassador Girma Asmerom is third from the left, following another Eritrean great, Luciano Vassalo, and other Eritrean stars before the 1968 Mexico Olympics.

Ambassador Girma Asmerom’s journey is truly inspiring!
While studying in the United States, he made a courageous decision to join the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) freedom fighters after completing his education. His impactful work as a journalist for Radio Dimtsi Hafash's Amharic Program included the significant announcement of 10,000 Ethiopian prisoners of war being freed by the EPLF. A dedicated diplomat and passionate journalist, Girma was also an exceptional football player and student. His distinguished career saw him represent Eritrea with pride in high-profile roles, including as Ambassador to Ethiopia, South Africa, the United States, the European Union, the African Union, and finally to the United Nations in New York. Girma's legacy is a testament to his unwavering commitment and love for his country.

You're welcome, brother. Happy weekend!

Eritrea’s Development Blueprint – Crystal & Consistent

Built on dignity, balance, and ownership. Self Reliance

Symmetric Cooperation: Engage all partners — public or private — free from dependency traps.

Sovereign Ownership: Policies and programs owned, designed, and implemented by Eritreans.

Self-Reliance ≠ Isolation: Trade and invest globally where Eritrea has comparative advantage — for value addition and fair share.

Human Capital First: Minerals, sea, and location mean nothing without skilled citizens.

Sustainable growth through independence, equity, and knowledge — not aid addiction.
