Aren’t we being too unreasonable towards Getachew Reda and General Tsadqan

Post by eden » 18 Oct 2025, 16:25

These days, many have harsh criticism towards the two. Actually, it goes beyond criticism. Getachew and General Tsadqan are being portrayed as treasonous.

Let’s backup. I remember some like Abraham Belay being on the wrong side during the entirety of the war. I also remember others such as Samora staying on the sidelines during this same period.

Getachew and General Tsadqan stood with people when it counted. Yes they did! They could have chosen to go the route of Abreha Belay or Samora.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t believe working with Abiy or the ruling clique at this time, nor at any time for that matter, serves the interest of people.

Just because I don’t understand what they are doing by dancing with the devil incarnate, it shouldn’t automatically mean they are treasonous.

As a matter of fact, this turn of events should cause us to rethink. It’s a cop out to dismiss them as traitors. We should ask ourselves what is it that we failed to understand and make sense of it all.

It’s just weak of us to label such thinkers with passion for people. Instead we should be seeking understanding: what underlying issues are out there that we are not seeing or pretending not to see which can explain, for lack of a better word, defection so disorienting.

Here is the answer about why you asked the question, right now, right here.

Dr. Abraha Belay is a town boy, understands the issue around him, adapts enough, he is not the part of those ቆሞ ቀርs, he has successfully attracted Obbo Getachew and General Tsadiqan successfully. Both are now moving with ቁጭት!

It is fruitless to discuss things with zero-sum people, but let me try. Your leader, in a moment of weakness and self-doubt, asks why his country is poor, why it has to beg for alms, he says he had sleepless night thinking about this. But the answer is simple:
- don't be an Oromo-only zero-sum fool internally, you are not going to defeat all ethnic groups within your country
- don't be an Ethiopia-only zero-sum fool externally, you are not going to defeat all your neighbours all the time
- don't lie, you're not going to be able to fool everybody all the time
- cheating is not going to make you a credible leader, who can grow a country, you cannot cheat your way out of poverty

is that your own ቁጭት?

Else I can't get any message out of this blabbering.

If it is your own ቁጭት, then I can only add here, well, it is a self-inflicted wound, enjoy it. How can somebody else help here?

justo and eden,

a little advice for your camp: start building instead of just keeping arguing. The difference between Sing-a-Poor and Ethiopia is that Ethiopia argues while building, while Sing-a-Poor is never tired of ONLY arguing! That is where the doomsday started!

Hi Eden,

It seems that you are trying to manufacture doubt in a situations where the meanings of the actions are already certain. What you are suggesting require a genuine ambiguity. It is ineffective in regards of Getcho's and Tsadkan's actions. Getcho himself said, "By the way, ንሰማዒኡ ዝህቦ ስምዒት ብዘይገድስ ኣብቅድሚ ዝኾነ ይኹን ሰብ ኣብኣደባባይ ዘልዕሎም ነጥብታት ካብልበይ ዝኣምነሎም'ዮም ጥራሕ ዘይኮነስ ክፍተወለይ ብዝብል ይኹን ብስክፍታ ተሸሚመ ዝብሎ ዋላሓደነገር የለን::"

There is nothing to be discovered and understood in regards to their actions. It is all clear. But people can have different opinions on the reasons why they are doing the things they are doing. Is is out of malice towards their former colleagues? Is it for preserving / maintaining / achieving gains? It's all open to interpretation.

Actions are visible, though motives are secret.

Eden, the real question should have been why those who are not from Adwa and to some extent Axum are the only one capable of having politics that encompasses the whole Ethiopia.
Didn’t that indicate የ “ ወርቁ” ዘር had been the troublemaker all along.
It is not advisable to dwell only on the politics of some personalities. It doesn’t show us the real picture. It is wise to see it from the Tigreans perspective as a whole.
Is it true Tigreans as a whole entertain the same politics as the Meles and Sebhat Nega ትርክት says ?
When TPLF had been in the driving seat, every Tigrean might have wanted መደመርን።
Now, it is a different story, Eden. Everyone might aspire to flee the sinking ship.
If I were you, I am brainstorming my brain right now to guess who the next Getachew Reda and Tasidkan be.
There might be others right now ready to jump from that sinking ship.

ብድር በምድር! The Emirates bought a mountain bike for Gecho with both the handlebars and pedals missing. ተራጋሚ ራሱን ደርጋሚ! :P :P
