That one event in Welkite in which they attempted to claim that Gurage had returned to the Geda system that united Oromo and Gurage before Menelick, to me, when looking back, was a prank. I say this because it happened all of a sudden, without discourse before hand, without prior public announcement, without much fanfare. A botched event? May be. Preplanned? Yes as little as you would for a shock and awe or prank. Has it ever been heard about after that one event? Never.

The idea or the initiators could only have been the Qebena terrorirsts. Inferior in number, mostly illiterate and poor peasants, they thought that if they could show Oromo is on their side by way of Geda, they would humiliate and frighten Gurage psychologically. I doubt now OPDO would agree to this prank.
