Bad news for Horus Somaliland President iro not visiting Ethiopia any time soon.

Post by Zack » 12 Jun 2025, 17:35

Dear lads gurage and amharas and gallas a like ,allow me to offer a translation for everyone, as the original message was in Somali. Unlike Horus, who often posts without providing context, I will endeavour to clarify the matter in details for those that want to know

What was initially planned was an official visit by the President of Somaliland to Ethiopia specifically to Addis Ababa to engage in high-level discussions surrounding new trade agreements, the security of the Berbera port, border matters, and broader geopolitical interests.

Horus claims that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also on the agenda; however, I am rather sceptical of this assertion. The report, nonetheless, raises a peculiar issue: it suggests that the Ethiopian government imposed a condition on the President’s visit namely, that the Somaliland government must first clarify its position regarding the aforementioned MoU signed by the late president of Somaliland Mr biixi.

A further complication emerged when the Federal Government of Somalia, based in Mogadishu, reportedly communicated to Addis Ababa that the President of Somaliland could not be received with full presidential honours and protocol, as this would, in their view, contravene Somali sovereignty an assertion they insisted must be respected as the former discussions in ankara clarified in details.

It is unclear whether this stance exerted pressure on Addis Ababa. However, it appears that a ministerial delegation from Somaliland, which was due to travel to Ethiopia to make preparations for the President's visit, ceased its plans upon learning that Ethiopia was, at this particular juncture, unwilling to receive the Somaliland leader.

Additionally, certain factions within the Somaliland government have expressed the opinion that the President should postpone any visit to Ethiopia altogether and instead seek diplomatic engagement with other African nations though no specific countries were named. But people are speculating it will be south sudan or South Africa there is also an egyptian delegation headed to Somaliland for talks.

Thus, it is fair to conclude that what Horus anticipated to be a pivotal moment the formal signing of the MoU has ultimately not materialised indeed.

And that my dear lads is the full story if anything comes up i will keep you lot updated

No sea for Ethiopia that’s what matters
Somalia and Somaliland leaders can visit Ethiopia

Somaliland now knows Ethiopia isn’t going to recognize them so they stopped talking about Ethiopia long time ago

Their focus is now the USA and UAE

Dr.,
Nations play a game years, decades, and centuries; not days and weeks. The GERD took 15 years. Red sea will much much shorter than that.
