When I see display like that, I used to be excited. But now I don't trust it because these group that prides of being extreme ethiopian has obvious and unconscious biases on anything Amhara. This is the group who cries the whole day when a single Oromo or Tigre killed but OK when 10,000 Amhara slaughtered.

Don't get me wrong. I like that spirit. But it needs to be backed by genuine love of the country. It is easy to sing and show such a massive display. But it takes principle not to ally with butchers such as Oneg, TPLF & Shabia.

This is a very good and constructive thread.

Selma’s opinion is excellent. Ethiopians have been working on that goal for 60 years with a disappointing results.
But doing the same thing again and again and expecting the same results or repeatedly using the same ineffective strategy will always end up with unproductive outcomes.

The issue here is that not all the people like the above vision instead there are others who would like the status quo to continue. It means if one prevails with the above vision and succeeds the others will fight it back. Means the civil war will continue.
Abiye in 2018: “there is only one ethnic group that doesn’t like ethnic federalism”. So far no one proves him practically wrong.
So, Selam, how do you make it work?

Misraq, you are as frustrated as I am. You sound like an isolationist. The Amharas are about 50% of the population and lives through out Ethiopia. They are not an isolationist by nature and they built Ethiopia. They are open minded and resourceful. They are faithful and spread the teachings of Christ &Islam through out eth, they are the farmers, they are the merchants and they are the warriors etc.
I don’t quite get your vision. Are you suggesting a separate Amhara land? Or confederation? If you elaborate please.

Not sure how to interpret your "isolationist" term without judging, framing and taking it to a wrong direction. I do support Ethiopian Unity but not in the form that put the Amhara in the disadvantageous position for the last 70 years. Here is my points. first, lets put the hard facts

1 - Ethnic politics is Ethiopia is not something that will go away in the near future
2 - Ethnic competition for resources and power will be with us for a foreseeable future
3 - Language and cultural competition will be with us for a foreseeable future.
4 - Favoritism along ethnic lines will be with us for a foreseeable future
5 - There will be disgruntled ethnic elements who will collaborate with the enemy of state
6 - Above all, there are armed and highly organized ethnic forces

Putting the ball in your quarter, what should the future of Ethiopia should be with the hard facts mentioned above? including the denied justice for over 70 years and the arrangment of disputed territories, the cleansed populations, their compensation and the state of Addis aBeba

You didn’t answer my question and I know why. The situation in Ethiopia is very complicated and no one knows how it can be resolved. That is why we are beating the same drum again and again.
The country is in a government sponsored deep ethnic conflict quagmire.
As usual people are looking for a strong nationalist leader to save the country. We have been there before and that may give the country a break for a a couple of years or decades but it won’t be a solution.

The root cause of the problem is ethnic nationalism. The central government has become a piggy bank for ethnic war lords and crooks. As TPLF, PP is now stealing money at will in the name of corridor development. Just like TPLF they are buying sophisticated weapons with tax payers money for the Oromo Liyu preparing for the future war.
It looks like there is no way out.
The 2nd and most important problem is that at this point Ethiopians are incapable of governing themselves. It takes a generation to change that.
Ethnic federalism as it is now is a disaster but what makes it difficult is that it has the support of half of the nation.
We will discuss the options to get out of the quagmire in the future by including other genuine Ethiopians.

I like what Selam posted but also Misraq you are right on the money! Whom you thought were unitary, you see them as Cadres of Tplf, Olf and Shabia. Also include the media groups whom we thought were Ethiopians on Esat media, however their true colors showed when Tplf disintegrated and they further divided our united societies. Mesay in Shabia camp, Sisay in Olf camp, Ermias in Tplf camp. And respectively their own team as well such as Minalachew.. These cadres are dividing Ethiopian societies.

These cadres of Liberation Fronts should not be looked at by the whole Ethiopia. What is being made is so that one Ethiopia not have a guide compass to hold the society. Ethiopians outside and inside can do it themselves however it is hard without leadership. Leaders come by silent mibilization of Ethiopians themselves without noise. It is possible also these seemingly pro Ethiopia cadres of liberation fronts are compromised, or maybe working for Ethiopia within. But we have seen groups like Eprp are doing more damage than uniting the country. Don't forget also these cadres by being Teletafi, they have their own strategic plan that maybe outside of unitary like liberation fronts working for the interest of foreigners so they can hold power in the country just like liberation fronts.
