As the United States sends a very stern warning to Eritrea thru Oman (see my previous post), it is also sending positive messages to Ethiopia thru its Secretary of State, that is the Numero Uno American Diplomat to strengthen its relations.
Given the instability in the southern Red Sea and the Indian Ocean side of the Horn of Africa, the United States wants Ethiopia to play a major role in the region. The United States see the Eritrean regime as a negative force against the American and EU interest in the region. On the hand, the US considers Ethiopia as a reliable complimentary force to US and EU interests.
There is no doubt the US wants Ethiopia to occupy the Red Sea shores from Assab Port to the Dahlak Islands, as Russia and the EU would prefer.

ማርኮ ሩቢዮ እና ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ የሁለትዮሽ ግንኙነትን ማጠናከር አክሎ በጋራ ቅድሚያ በሚሰጧቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ በስልክ መነጋገራቸውን የአሜሪካ የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ያወጣው መግለጫ ያስረዳል።
አገራቱ በአፍሪካ ቀንድ መረጋጋትን ማምጣት አንድ የውይይታቸው ርዕስ እንደነበር የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ቃል አቀባይ ታሚ ብሩስን ዋቢ ያደረገው መግለጫ አትቷል።
በሪፐብሊካኑ የትራምፕ አስተዳደር የተሾሙት የውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትሩ አገራቸው ለሰላማዊ እና የበለጸገች ኢትዮጵያ ድጋፍ እንደምታደርግ አረጋግጠውላቸዋል ተብሏል።
ትራምፕ በመጀመሪያ አስተዳደራቸው ወቅት ግብጽ የህዳሴ ግድብን ታፈነዳለች ማለታቸው የኢትዮጵያ መንግሥትን ያሳዘነ ነበር። ....
