Egypt: President El-Sisi Meets Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Government Spokesperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. The meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, and Djibouti’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Ahmed Ali Berri.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that Djibouti’s Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, to President El-Sisi, confirming his keenness to foster relations with Egypt. President El-Sisi underscored the deep-rooted bilateral relations, stressing Egypt’s commitment to strengthening ties.

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest and the importance of exploring broader horizons for bilateral collaboration to achieve common interests and meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

The discussion also touched on the situation in the Horn of Africa, including efforts to restore security and stability in the region, as well as developments in Somalia. In this regard, President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s unwavering efforts to support Somalia’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity.

President El-Sisi and the Foreign Minister of Djibouti also discussed the situation in the Red Sea, with both sides agreeing on the significance of joint efforts to restore security in Bab el-Mandeb Strait and, thereby, normal navigation in the Red Sea.

Abbiy did not betray Eritrea. I knew it from day 1. He fought for Badme during the border wars. He was mad at the weyanes settling for arbitration. Abbiy wanted to continue fighting for Assab. From the get go, our problem was the government in Asmara. With the border ruling in favor of Eritrea, there was no reason to annoy the US by inviting the rebel radical groups from Somalia. Issayas did everything to annoy the West. Reason, power hunger. He still is in power at the expense of Eritrean people. Especially at the expense of the blood of Eritrean youth. Now, Abbiy can not do shyyyt about Assab. He is just making noise. I trust Hosni Mubarekh a million times more than Isayas Afewerqi. God bless the Egyptian brother. Supporters of Isayas, learn from the likes of Sadam Hussein followers. At least, Sadam fought for the sovereignty of Iraq even at the expense of Kuwait.

there was no reason to annoy the US by inviting the rebel radical groups from Somalia.
FYI, he didn't invite the so-called radical rebel group in particular but held a reconciliation conference open to any Somali group.

In addition, what you don't know is that the head of the so-called radical rebel group was made the president of Somalia (against Somalis' will) a few months later by the same Americans you're saying got annoyed by PIA for inviting them.

Suez Canal Authority Says Stability Returning To Red Sea

February 1, 2025

CAIRO, Jan 31 (Reuters) – Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie has told shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk there are signs of stability returning to the Red Sea, https://gcaptain.com/houthis-pledge-par ... on-return/ and urged the company to take that into account when planning sea routes, according to a statement from the SCA.

The statement said Rabie made the comments at a meeting with the CEO of the Danish container shipping group and other senior executives, but did not say when the meeting took place.
We seek to take into account the positive indicators observed in the Red Sea region when planning maritime schedules in the coming period,
Rabie was quoted as saying.

Several major global shipping companies have suspended Red Sea voyages https://gcaptain.com/french-shipping-gi ... g-red-sea/ and rerouted vessels https://gcaptain.com/containership-tran ... the-route/ around southern Africa to avoid potential attacks from Yemen’s Houthis.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in December the disruption had cost Egypt around $7 billion in revenues from the Suez Canal in 2024.

Last week, Maersk MAERSKb.CO said it would continue to divert vessels away from the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea and towards the southern tip of Africa despite the Houthis announcing they would curb their attacks on ships.

The Iran-aligned Houthis https://gcaptain.com/trump-orders-proce ... ng-crisis/ have carried out more than 100 attacks on ships since November 2023 and sunk two vessels, seized another and killed at least four seafarers.
