First I thought this was funded by the central government but I don't believe so

I can see civilians, mothers, elders doing the labour instead of professional construction workers

Gondar also seems to be stuck with building codes since Italian times.... this is why tall buildings can't be constructed to conserve the traditional vibe of tinder

So the city in Amhara that can look the most closest to Addis Ababa is Bahir Dar
