There were ways he could travel without going for head but against sovereignty question of Somalia. Anyone would ask that if Somalia raises a question of its sovereignty and blocks the MoU, how would Ethiopia answer that question and what forces Somalia would call to hinder the implementation of the MoU.
With degrees in international laws, political science, experience in diplomacies, what good are they holding high profiles offices if they cannot forecast difficult possibilities and how to navigate around them.
What stopped them to campaign for the recognition of Somaliland by a handful of African countries that are friends with Ethiopia? And then the now independent Somaliland signs MoU with Ethiopia or access to a sea port in Berbera. Ethiopia would be safer. It would have created its enemies by unforced error.
