What are the Eritrean ethnic and regional tensions?

Post by Odie » 27 Oct 2024, 10:28

Eritrea is home to several ethnic groups, each with distinct identities, languages, and cultures. The major ethnic groups include:

1. Tigrinya: The largest ethnic group, primarily located in the highland regions. They play a significant role in Eritrea's political landscape.

2. Tigre: Found mostly in the western regions, they have historical ties to both Eritrea and Ethiopia.

3. Saho: Located in the southeastern part of Eritrea, they have their own language and cultural practices.

4. Bilen: Primarily found in the central region, they are smaller in number compared to the Tigrinya and Tigre.

5. Other groups: Includes the Rashaida, Kunama, and others, each with unique cultural backgrounds and languages.

Tensions and Challenges:
a. Political Representation: The Tigrinya group has historically held more political power, leading to perceptions of marginalization among other ethnic groups, particularly the Tigre and Kunama.

b. Resource Allocation: Disparities in resource distribution among regions can exacerbate ethnic tensions, as some groups feel they are not receiving their fair share of development or services.

c. Historical Conflicts: Eritrea's long struggle for independence from Ethiopia involved complex inter-ethnic dynamics, and the aftermath of the conflict has left lingering resentments.

d. Cultural Identity: Efforts to promote a national identity can sometimes clash with strong ethnic identities, leading to tensions about language, cultural expression, and political representation.

e. Youth Discontent: Young people from various ethnic backgrounds have expressed dissatisfaction with the government, leading to a shared sense of frustration that can transcend ethnic lines.

These tensions, if not managed effectively, can pose significant challenges to national unity and stability.

Give the opportunity to those with Ethiopian root/connection includign Afar home. Who will be left in the cold, crying hegemony????

Odie,

That is true Eritrea (an Italian created fictitious entity by assembling quite dissimilar groups with no intrinsic binding historical cultural or otherwise fabric) is full of antagonistic relationships, even when it is barley inhabited. Eritrea is the true miscarriage and failure of the West- an almost vacated land with no prospect to be valid a country. That is what Eritrea of Shabia validated to all in the last at least 35 years. One of the most tectonic force that weigh the most, which I think you did not mention, is the Afar Ethnic group.

Afar more than the fictitious Italian Eritrea is a group with a united fabric of being an Afar for Noth to South, since thousands of year. Afar has its center of influence and culture at Asiata, Sultan Almirah is what is the most valued asset of administration and cultural influence than Italian garrison of Asmara. Thus, I would say, Afar will soon liberate themselves and break the Sheath of Italy created fake land of Eritrea. It was Meles Zenawi and Isaias in coordination attacked the Afar resistance force that unrecognized Eritrea early. And this force is not dormant now it is more active than ever before.

Now kindly can you also describe your cancerous Ethiopia’s ethnic group numbers and the different visions they all have and unlike in Eritrea 🇪🇷 why they are butchering each other and waving their over 80 different flags and separate national anthems?
And while are at it, why would the Eritrean Afars want to separate when they already are part of the ownership of the Eritrean 🇪🇷 coasts, which you 130 million rats 🐀 are dreaming of?
Do you really believe that the Eritrean Afars will be safe from you thieves Ethiopians even after the mission impossible dream of yours occurres?
If you really worry about all Afars why don’t you let your Afars to conduct referendum if they want to be part of Ethiopia or Eritrea or Djibouti or Somalia?
As far as the Eritrean 🇪🇷 Afars not that you will stop talking sh’it about them, trust me if Eritrea 🇪🇷 just to shut your mouth does referendum, our Afars will still say that they are Eritreans and don’t want to be part of any neighboring countries, even though you don’t want to admit it, they did that after they fought along side their Eritrean 🇪🇷 counterparts kicked you out of Eritrea in 1993 and voted 100% for independent Eritrea 🇪🇷.
Man give it a rest.

To torpedo the ancient land and nation of Ethiopia, those who envy her created the three toxic and poison carrier rats of Shabia, Woyane and OLF. The only ideal solution is to control these three pests. The people will breathe relief once the rats are neutralized.

It’s funny that Ethiopians say that Eritrean is an Italian colonial creation the borders yes but the people there had always their own customs politics culture ethics Distinct From that of Ethiopia. Eritrea was never part of Ethiopia because Ethiopians didn’t feel the need to fight the Italians in Eritrea because they didn’t see that place as part of their own so when Ethiopians say we were never colonised well true it may be . But Eritrea was there for Eritrea was never part of Ethiopia . If Eritrea was part of Ethiopia then Ethiopia was indeed colonised . It can’t be both . Besides all borders of africa were created by the Brits Germans french and Italians . There is no difference between Eritrea and togo or Eritrea and Zambia .. do you really think of Eritreans were allowed to draw their borders they wouldn’t include eastern Sudan kassala and perhaps northern tigray axum Perhaps but hey it is what it is . You can’t change the past u can only work towards a better future

The Tigrigna ethnic group is the cause of all problems and seems to resent being called Tigrigna. The other Eritrean ethnic groups do not have disputes within themselves.

Even Isaias expressed his concerns about it some time ago... take a look and you can decide for yourself. I’m counting on Fendadaw and Kebena to assist you with the translation.

Mr Zac the Shabea emotional support pet,

Firstly, as you belong to shabea community, I am not expecting to exchange truthful information with you as you are already biased towards Eritrea.

If as you said Eritrea is like Uganda or Kenya, do you see any Ugandan or Kenyan trolls on this forum? Why should not shabeans are gone since they found they "Freedom"? Don't tell me they are here because we attack them. They are poking their nose in Ethiopian affairs 24/7 when we are at peace with them or not.

Second problem is I don't think you know nothing about Ethio-Eritrean history. Please google for yourself when Eritrea was part of Ethiopia and when it was not (including before Menelik).

Lastly, except for political reason, the people on both side of the isle are culturally, linguistically, economically and psychologically interconnected unlike other countries you have mentioned from other sides of Africa.

Did you see any Ethiopian on this forum badmouthing Eritreans first? Ain't it a self-initiated conflict by the Shabeans themselves? Are they not be having a vicar of Somalia? Is the Somalia issue initiated by ordinary Ethiopians, Are the shabeans not insulting ordinary Ethiopians not involved in any of their issue?
Now I request you to roll you tail bet2ween your legs and get lost
