Someone in the know told me, sooner or later mercato will be razed to the ground except the old stone buildings.

Perhaps the fire is like a warning shot .

Those who know the back streets of mercato would like to see it flatten.
A big blow to the informal traders, thieves and the bulk of the Gurages who make their living there.

No doubt it needs sorting out, cleaning,weeding out the undesirables from that filthy warren of a place.
