Thanks Horus for the post!
It reminded me old days a kind of ritualistic expectation as a kid. ዋልታ is covering this for political reason. I wish it was a private media.
I am not sure how many people can enjoy መስቀር as used to be due to economic pressure.
I very much love their ጎመን preparation and ቄሳ (አይብ). I love that even better the meat kitfo. In the country side people are athletic, can eat anything and walk healthy unlike us who think many time before eating something even for a single day.
Most Gurage regions now are within 250km and very close to city. See how the ladies prefer to speak Amharic may be for the sake of the journalist but that has became the norm. Look all the segment of the የወላልያ ዘፈን they sing is almost Amharic. Not because of Amhara pressure but Amharic overflow to the countryside from addis due to close location and people traveling to and from addis. Obviously Guragigna will be lost to Amharic and may be Gurage be assimilated to Amhara region in the future…ቂቂቂቂ
I don’t think people care about it and I don’t care as far as peace reigns and Ethiopia rises out Ethnofascism

Two sellouts of Gurage who have zero allegiance to the people of Gurage will continue to degrade and diminish it. Their days are numbered. Obstacles in all their ways to confront and deter.

Odie

Do you know in Amhara region their is 2 Agowmedir one in western gojam (Awi) the 2007 census says the zone is 60% Awi and 40% Amhara but 53% Amharic speaking and 45% Agow speaking... and the other in northern Wollo (Hemra) is 45% Amhara and 53% Agow but Amharic is spoken by 56% and Agow 43% .....basically Agow zones in Amhara region are almost majority Amhara! Sooooo If Shengo asks for a Kilil Fano must ask for 50% of the zone land to be returned to Amhara zones!
.. the 2007 census says Lay Armachiho Woreda was 63% Qemant Ethnic but only 1% could speak Qemant so 99% are Amharic speakers! I am also wondering if the gov is forcing Amhara students to learn Agowinya in school in those zones?

I don't think the rise of Amharic in Gurage has to do with Amharas or how close it is to Addis I believe it's the Abyssinian Gurage peoples preference to speak amharic
