Wishful thinking, I guess.

We Somalis do not want to have anything to do with any Ethiopian, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. For us, all Ethiopians are the same fuc'kers, and thus we do not distinguish between fuc'kers.

Oromia region charging fees truck drivers from other parts of Ethiopia

From recurring reports of rights abuse and even open massacre against innocent civilians over the past six years ( since Abiy Ahmed took power), It seems Oromia region of Ethiopia is increasingly becoming lawless. Both government bodies and militants operating in the region seem to be the source of the problem.

Truck drivers that drive across the Oromia region had been experiencing kidnapping and killings. When that seems to be slowing in recent weeks (at least there was no news report about it), security officials posted at checkpoints in the region are hassling truck drivers with fees “for passing through” Oromia – much like “landing fee.” The issue has been trending on social media for several weeks now.

DW Amharic published a report on Friday and the story seems to confirm that security authorities in Oromia are charging illegal fees from other Ethiopians.

Major roads linking regions and provinces are theoretically under the Federal government administration. However, Truck drivers say, as reported by DW Amharic, “they are forced to pay ‘exaggerated fees’ as they drive through the Oromia region.”

They added that they have made complaints to authorities but the response they got was not satisfactory. The region’s urban development and housing office is saying that they “have no idea about what this fee is.”

According to drivers, including those driving to Djibouti via Oromia region, they are being charged up to 2000 birr every few kilometers. Drivers who dare to ask for an explanation about the fee are being beaten by the security officials posted at checkpoints.

A driver who spoke to DW Amharic said he has paid three times between Mojo and the capital Addis Ababa which is about 65 kilometers.

Neither the Federal government nor the Oromia regional state do seem to be acting on it.

Somalia has carried out mass arrests of thousands of unwanted Ethiopian migrants fleeing from hunger and inter-ethnic conflict in war-torn Ethiopia, well done.

The influx of Galla scavengers to Somalia is not unusual by historical standards, Galla scavengers are well-known throughout the country, However, in recent years, Somalia and Djibouti have experienced an influx of Central Ethiopian migrants such as HIV/AIDS infested subhuman low IQ Gurage listros and Wolaytta fleeing their tiny resourceless zones in hellhole war-torn Ethiopia because of extreme poverty, violence and joblessness.

I think the solution to curb the influx of unwanted Ethiopians to Somalia is to burn them alive, especially the dirty Gurage listros.

This tweet is the definition of clickbait and fake news, these days people of all backgrounds are misusing the internet instead of using it productively.

War-torn Ethiopia Galla government does not have the capacity, the resources and the courage to send 200 ragtag soldiers to Somalia, let alone 4000 soldiers, But it does have the capacity to dominate and terrorize Amhara region and Gurage listros, Moreover, poverty-stricken war-torn Ethiopia has one small army training camp near Dire Dawa in the whole of Somali State but there are absolutely no war-torn Ethiopian military stationed in Somali State.

Somalia is no longer the Somalia it was in 2006 and war-torn Ethiopia of 2024 is not Ethiopia of 2006, Today, war-torn Ethiopia has become an almost completely isolated pariah country, It is in the same league as countries such as Eritrea, The west has abandoned and suspended security assistance and military aid to war-torn Ethiopia, It is alone and mired in a bloody civil war.

There are more than eighty-five countries in war-torn Ethiopia.

USAID has launched a water supply system project worth 10 million USD under the RIPA-North program.

The project aims to addressing critical drought conditions with funding from Feed the Future and support from the Somali State Water Bureau, USAID stated.

The initiative will respond to water shortages in the Somali State, according to USAID.

The United States has quietly suspended security assistance and military aid to war-torn Ethiopia but says it will continue to proactively provide humanitarian assistance for the people of war-torn Ethiopia.

Google Translate adds Afar language using AI in largest ever expansion

By Eric Revell FOXBusiness June 28, 2024

Afar, Cantonese, the Shahmukhi dialect of Punjabi and Max were among the languages added to Google Translate

Google announced on Thursday that its Translate platform was expanded with 110 new languages added for users thanks to the use of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models.

Among the notable additions to Google Translate that were flagged in the company's announcement was Cantonese, which Caswell said has "long been one of the most requested languages" for the tool but was challenging to add because it often overlaps with Mandarin in writing, which made it "tricky to find data and train models."

Shahmukhi, a variety of Punjabi that's the most spoken language in Pakistan, was added along with Afar – a tonal language spoken in Djibouti, Eritrea and Ethiopia which the announcement noted had the most volunteer community contributions.

Africa Chiefs of Defense conference in Gaborone, Botswana

The United States Africa Command and Nato have organized a conference in Botswana with defense chiefs from 35 African countries this week from Tuesday 25 to Wednesday 26 June to supposedly discuss security and stability on the continent, However, the world's most populous landlocked country aka war-torn Ethiopia was not invited to the US-Africa military conference in Gaborone, beautiful Botswana, because aid-dependent war-torn Ethiopia is completely geopolitically irrelevant on the global stage, despite its large population.

Kenya anti-tax protests: Where do things go from here?

Chrispin Mwakideu

06/28/2024

Protesters are increasingly calling for Kenyan President William Ruto to step down, even after he caved to demands to withdraw a deeply unpopular tax-hike bill.

Young Kenyan protesters blame the president for the deaths of demonstrators

"Right now, we are at [Ruto's] midterm evaluation," Nerima Wako, executive director of Siasa Place, a political hub that provides a space for women and youth to engage in politics, told DW.

"What we are seeing now is the Kenyan people evaluating his team's performance," Wako told DW. She cited several surveys that show Ruto's approval ratings have dropped to below 50%.

"Resignation is a tough one, but I hear a lot of people calling for a recall on the members of parliament who voted yes."

Kenya is poor country with a very large uneducated population, In fact, 93% of Kenya's 44 different ethnic groups are living below the poverty line, The population of Kenya in 2024 is more than 56 million and its population is predicted to about double by 2050, Both war-torn Ethiopia and corrupt Kenya are a creation of the European empires which will eventually disintegrate on their own just like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.

Over 160 people kidnapped for ransom in Ethiopia last week, US envoy says

By Reuters July 8, 2024

ADDIS ABABA, July 8 (Reuters) - At least 100 people, including students, were kidnapped for ransom last week in Ethiopia's restive regions that have seen sporadic fighting since the end of the civil war in Tigray, the U.S. ambassador to Addis Ababa said on Monday.
While a peace agreement signed in November 2022 has resulted in a measure of stability for Tigray, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government has struggled to bring security to other areas.

Last year, more than 1,300 people were killed across the country, with most of the violence affecting the regions of Amhara and Oromia, according to the United Nations.

"Recent and frequent kidnappings in Oromia and Amhara regions show how prolonged conflict emboldens criminals and weakens (the) rule of law," U.S. Ambassador Ervin Massinga wrote on social media platform X.

On Wednesday, three buses were stopped by unknown gunmen around 120 km (75 miles) north of the capital Addis Ababa, in the Oromia region, said a student of Debark University, who later escaped and hid in a forest.

"It was scary and shocking. They started to beat the passengers with sticks, and force them to get out of the bus," he said.
The attackers spoke Oromo, he said, and had the same hairstyle as fighters from the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) rebel group, which the UN has accused of killings, destruction of property, rape and abductions.

"The kidnappers are now asking families to pay up to 1 million birr ($17,500) to release the captives," he told Reuters, requesting anonymity.
Spokespersons for the OLA, local Oromia administration and central government did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

Asmamaw Zegeye, Debark University's president, confirmed the incident but did not provide further details.
The sister of another student said the group had asked for 500,000 birr for their release.

The official visit of the isolated illiterate Galla Prime Minister to Sudan is for political purposes to attract the attention of the United States and the European Union, Moreover, the illiterate Galla gardener is frustrated and very desperate because poverty-stricken war-torn Ethiopia with a population of 120 million is insignificant in the geopolitical context of Africa and completely irrelevant in global politics.

War-torn Ethiopia which will eventually disintegrate into more than 85 independent countries is as important as Lesotho.

The European Union reaffirmed the strategic importance of the Somali Peninsula.

Turkey Bans Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Flight to Yerevan Armenia Via Its Airspace

It's American and European pride not the pride of Africa.

11.07.24

On July 9, Turkish aviation authorities banned a Boeing 777F cargo plane of Ethiopian Airlines from flying through its airspace en route to Armenia, reports Armenian publication Hetq.

The publication states that the plane had departed from Liège, Belgium, and, after flying through the airspace of several European countries, was supposed to enter Turkish airspace from Bulgaria. However, without receiving permission from the Turkish side, the plane made an intermediate landing in Vienna and returned to Liège.

The Civil Aviation Committee reported that the Ethiopian cargo carrier had all the necessary permits, but Ankara banned the flight at the last moment. Hayways Cargo Director Ovsanna Stepanyan explained that the plane's cargo consisted of consumer goods ordered by customers from Armenia and Georgia. After being delivered to Yerevan, part of the cargo was to be sent to Tbilisi by Hayways.

As seen on online flight tracking websites the plane circled the skies of Bulgaria several times and, not receiving entry permission from Turkey, turned back to Vienna, where it landed before returning to Liège. The cargo was then shipped to Armenia and Georgia via Russia.

Eritrea suspends Ethiopian Airlines flights, airline says

ADDIS ABABA, July 24 (Reuters) - Eritrean authorities have suspended all flights by Ethiopian Airlines to the East African nation effective Sept. 30, the airline said on Wednesday.

Flights from Ethiopia to Eritrea had resumed in 2018 after two decades, following a peace deal between the two neighbours that earned Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed a Nobel peace prize a year later.

"Ethiopian Airlines has received a notice from the Eritrean Civil Aviation Authority through a letter... indicating the suspension of all Ethiopian Airlines flights to Eritrea, effective September 30, 2024," the airline said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

"The specific reasons for this suspension have not been disclosed to us," it said. Eritrea Information Minister Yemane Gebremeskel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hanna Atnafu, a spokesperson for the airline, told Reuters the flight suspension came as a surprise. "What is shocking and saddening to our airlines was just 15 days ago, on July 8, there was a letter sent to (us) requesting, to increase our weekly flight frequency from 10 flights to 15," Hanna said.

Djibouti and France renew defence partnership

by AFP Staff Writers, Paris (AFP) July 24, 2024

French President Emmanuel Macron and his Djibouti counterpart Ismail Omar Guelleh agreed Wednesday to renew the defence partnership between the two countries, following two years of negotiations.

According to a statement from the French presidency, they signed an agreement on "the ambitious reform of the Defence Cooperation Treaty which unites France and Djibouti."

The accord, signed at Macron's office, governs the 1,500 French troops based in the small but strategically located East African country.
French troops have recently closed military bases in Mali and Niger following military coups in both countries, but there has never been any question of abandoning Djibouti, France's largest permanent overseas base.

The country is located opposite Yemen, near an opening to the Red Sea, where a large part of the global trade between Asia and the West passes.

The discussions had been held up by Djibouti's demands that France greatly increase the rent it pays, according to a source close to the negotiations.

The defence agreement was first signed in 1977 when the former French colony won independence, and was renewed in 2011.
But France only began to pay rent in 2003, following the opening of a US base in the country.

The United States of America is mostly concerned with securing access to Somalia's untapped natural resources, which are used in many modern and emerging technologies, and that is what “USA national security interests” in Somalia is really about, The United States spends billions of dollars annually to maintain military bases in natural resource-rich Somalia.

Meanwhile, The People's Republic of China is actively strengthening its ties with Somalia, China has also donated cutting-edge security equipment to Somalia last week.

Eritrea is throwing its weight one hundred percent behind Egypt because war-torn landlocked Ethiopia is a permanent enemy of Eritrea, It's a smart move by the Eritrean Government.

Djibouti Offers to Support New Somalia Peacekeeping Force

August 07, 2024

Djibouti and Egypt have offered to support a new African Union peacekeeping mission to Somalia that will replace a similar force being retired at the end of this year, according to the continental body.

The AU’s peace and security council met on Aug. 1 and endorsed the formation of the new mission that will be known as the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia, or Aussom.

The council “welcomes the offer made by Egypt and Djibouti to contribute to the elements of the Aussom and encourages other AU member states in a position to do so, to contribute,” the AU said in an emailed statement.

The AU first intervened in Somalia in 2007 and has had troops from nations including Kenya, Uganda and Burundi supporting the government since.

UN says abducted Ethiopian aid worker killed

August 14, 2024

An Ethiopian humanitarian worker who was abducted has been killed in the volatile Amhara region, aid groups said.

In a statement, the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, or OCHA, in Ethiopia reported that Yared Melese was kidnapped for ransom and later killed by an unidentified criminal group operating in Dawunt Woreda of the North Wello Zone in Amhara.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the kidnapping for ransom and subsequent killing of our colleague, Mr. Yared Melese, by criminals, whilst he was serving in the line of duty,” read a statement by Ramiz Alakbarov, the U.N. humanitarian coordinator in Ethiopia.

I believe the headquarters of the African Union will remain in Addis Ababa indefinitely. This is largely because Ethiopia holds a special place in the hearts of many Black African nations and the Abyssinians are revered by them, due to its remarkable history of maintaining independence throughout the colonial era.

Addis Ababa is a capital city of considerable sophistication and development, ructure, it is worth noting that much of their development was shaped by European colonisation. capable of hosting such an important institution. It stands as a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the Ethiopian people, having been built largely without the influence of European colonial powers. While cities like Johannesburg and Nairobi may boast superior infrast

Similarly, the headquarters of the Arab League will undoubtedly remain in Cairo, for Egypt is regarded as the jewel of the Arab world, a cradle of ancient civilization, and a key player in the Muslim empires that once defended Jerusalem from the Crusader pagan forces. Cairo is also where the second Caliph of the Islamic Empire, Omar Ibn al-Khattab, established his conquest, further cementing its place in the annals of Islamic history. Thus, like Ethiopia for the African Union, Egypt’s historical and cultural significance ensures that it will continue to host the Arab League.
