The key mistake that triggered misery to Tigray is adultery & "እንይንይ" on the Ethiopian Nationality issue!

Post by Axumezana » 16 Aug 2024, 00:11

Never in the history of Tigray have Tigrayans struggled to be independent of Ethiopia. Even the short lived dream of establishing the Republic of Tigray initiated by TPLF in the 1970's was left out & TPLF chose the right strategy of establishing a holistic based Ethiopian government under the umbrella of EPRDF. TPLF' mistake was the center of it's umbrella government should had been in its home base in Tigray ( in Axum) . In 2018 when TPLF was dislodged from its wrongly established base in Addis Ababa it's dream was to separate from Ethiopia and establish Tigray as an independent country using the provisions in Article 39 . That was simply wrong & hypocritical because TPLF cannot claim they are Ethiopians when they are in power and non-Ethiopian after loosing power. Even today TPLF members & so many Tigrayans are in deep confusion (እንይንይ) either to stay part of Ethiopia or run away from Ethiopia to unknown dream Banana Republic. For Axumezana through I respect Tigrayan people right for self determination , Which I expect majority of Tigrayans will vote to stay in Ethiopia , any blind gallop toward an independent country will take Tigrayans to dead end with further misery and marginalization of their contribution / participation as part of Ethiopia.

In 2018, after pushed out of Addis, or chose to leave Addis — I believe the latter to be true — TPLF did not plan to secede from Ethiopia. That is a wrong reading of what happened. Rather TPLF started to initiate a comeback plan. The so called “federalists” have started their journey to Mekele. They portrayed themselves as the savior of the ethnic federal system, which they believed was going to be replaced by unitary system unless they act.
The Ethiopian people at large was not impressed by Lidetu suddenly calling Abiy he has played both cards accusation. Berket Simon was another politician who miscalculated. He seemed to have believed TPLF would regain its lost power.
I believe had Berket kept quiet, avoided the Meetings in Mekele, he might not be sent to prison.
Yes, he was a blind follower of Meles. But the corruption case does not seem right. Of all the EPDRF politicians probably he is among the least corrupt.
When the federalist meetings fail to get traction, I believe, the ill-fated plan to march to Addis was conceived. It was started by attacking the military that was stationed in Tigray. The rest is history.
