But facts are majority of the world countries were colonized by powers stronger than them with some of the colonizers very brutal and some semi-brutal and I can say that the three Italian colonies (Eritrea, Somalia and Libya) were ‘lucky’ and didn’t face the inhuman local citizens of other countries and the destructions of the infrastructures the colonizers left behind unlike the likes of the French and British and of course the ugly Ethiopian regimes.
So, yes instead of being handed over to the evil British for 10 years and then for over 40 years to the most backwards country called Ethiopia, I rather Eritrea was under the Italian colonisation in those 50 years which we suffered under the British and the 120 million rats and uncivilized beasts.

He doesn't long for Italian subjugation consciously but unconsciously. I see a lot of unconscious nostalgia from eritreans for the days of italian rule, including from thier elites and intellectuals. It all stems from the way eritreans forged their current identity by citing their "colonial" struggle against Ethiopia - the era of ethiopian rule being branded as the bitter struggle "gedli" era which is disparaged and painted as an era of darkness hence unconsciously making the era preceeding it - the italian rule - the era they romanticise and are nostalgic for.
