How different is the current TPLF split from past TPLF split and the EPLF split?

How different is the current TPLF split from past TPLF split and EPLF split?

This is a good research topic.

Meles vs. Seye split ended up in imprisonment of major political opponents who were later released and continued political participation.

Isayas vs G15 split resulted in the jailings of major political opponents incommunicado with still no proof of life. No family or lawyers allowed even today decades later. This has also shut media completely having jailed journalists.

The current Debretsion vs. Getachew split so far resulted in no major jailings or arrests, seemingly a civilized competition for the heart and mind of the people. Competing events staged by these groups in order to clinch political control. Intense political fight and media war continues which means political leaders and journalists are more free after the split.

Today Tigray has professional soldiers and all the generals are Tigray safeguards and protector of citizens not servant of one party or individuals. All the noice going on in Tigray will desepate soon because there is no one will tray to cross the red line against the other. All parties made their noise, now go home and do your business and the government of Tigray will continue their duties for the public. The military is the final say for the interest of the people not families or regions or party. Debretsion still thinks Tigray is the old way of business but Tigray is transformed for the last two years and not going back but Getachew will work to bring back our displaced people and hold election for all parties and the winner will take over from Getachew. Getachew is a temporary leader until things settle down and no one is preaching for him but he is open minded and trying to clean corruption, safety of the people and inclusive with educated people and he does not loot or work for greedy people.

After EPLF split, children of G15 grew up without parents, never allowed to visit them in jail

Eden,“ a civilized competition?” I do not think so. Even if they want either Getachew or Debretsion hasn’t the political or security apparatus power to lock up. The stalemate might continue for a while unless a third party is involved to tilt the power struggle to one side.

Getachew Reda and the newly elected Deputy Leader of TPLF, Amanuel Aseffa (the guy in white shirt behind Getcho) in the cornerstone laying ceremony in Mekelle today

That was a coup against Getachew. Mark my words: he will be imprisoned, killed, or seek refuge in Addis Abeba, and Abiy will declare him as president of the Tigray region in exile.

Getachew is acting stupid.
He throws his partners in crime in favour of Abiye Ahmed Ali. Didn’t Getachew said “Abiye is a moron and unreliable” 2 years ago.
Debretsion & co. Should take a decisive action immediately. Arrest or kill Getachew and Tsadikan before they let Abiye dismantle TDF.

affable,

the current TPLF split is civilized compared to EPLF’s experience. let’s not forget even before G15, Isayas killed those with different ideas in mass.

purge and liquidation EPLF:

I didn’t say a word about EPLF. I have no any interest right now to know what had happened. I am only interested about Ethiopian politics.

affable hear me out

“civilized” in the sense I use it is a relative term. You seem to think of it as an absolute term, like one is either civilized or uncivilized.

Compared to past TPLF experience in accommodating differences, and compared to EPLF experience, TPLF current experience is RELATIVELY civilized. I don’t see jailings, liquidations of opposition major politicians and journalists, so far, inside the TPLF.

It makes sense to compare a tigrian led organization like TPLF with its past. It also makes sense to compare a tigrian led organization like TPLF with another tigrian led organization, the EPLF.

Why you complaining? It’s not like I’m comparing the TPLF experience against that of the Sandinista National Liberation Front.

No, what I keep saying is I only engage or articulate my opinion about the politics I am concerned about. The politics of the neighboring country is none of my business. Do not get me wrong. I am not that naive. I know a thing or two, but I keep it to myself.

fair enough but the way I see it, what happens inside the Tigrian led government in Asmera (Isayas) affects TPLF (Debrexion) the same or even more than what happens inside the government in Addis (Addis) because the ethnic affiliation is no less a factor than sharing a citizenship.

It’s like the somali region inside Ethiopia is impacted by what happens in Mogadishu than Addis.

“ the Somali region inside Ethiopia is impacted by what happens in Mogadishu than Addis,” you wrote. This is a statement that desperately cries for an explanation. Could you generously offer some ?
