In other words, the GDP of Ethiopia remained either stagnant or grew at lower rates when Ethiopia had free access to Eritrea's ports entirely free of charge, while its GDP has phenomenally been growing since it has depended on Djibouti's port for moving its fuc'king goods in and out.

In truth, Ethiopia's search for a coastal access has to do with achieving its classical ambition of dominating the Horn of Africa more than anything else.

Ethiopia going to war with Eritrea is, in fact, beneficial for Eritrea, albeit it causes death and destruction on both sides. If you a country has a sea port, it gains revenue from ships that dock on its port and it doesn't have to pay for its shipments. At the same time, the country pays for maintenance and security ships on its port. It would find it necessary to have a navy army, with its own college and war ships.
