On behalf of the United States of America, I extend our best wishes to Ethiopia as you celebrate your National Day.

The United States will support efforts to advance peace through dialogue, ensure our mutual economic security, and cooperatively tackle global issues such as climate change and health. The American people stand with the Ethiopian people as you endeavor to overcome challenges and deliver a brighter future.

I don't know why that could be so important, except for Horus, who would like to see his own fantasy of seeing Abiy Ahmed's troubles, at all junctures. His daily nightmare is about Abiy remaining in power.
According to the Ethiopian calendar May 28 is a holiday, dubbed national day by those who took our sea gate by means of the gun and imposed the holiday on the Ethiopian people, which is also constitutionally anchored.
Abiy Ahmed can't change the constitution on his own, the amendment of the constitution is not his top agenda in my view, he has a more pressing and grandios agenda of enabling the people of Ethiopia to eat enough by its own and securing its peace.
It is a common practice of the diplomatic milieu that people exchange well-wishes with their contemporaries.
Now the question is why should we even care about it at all?
