ETHIOPIA TO JOIN ARAB LEAGUE?
Could Ethiopia join the Arab League? Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed says he hopes one day it will happen and has urged people to learn Arabic. He also reckons it would give his country a greater voice on regional affairs, claiming: ‘If Ethiopia were a member of the Arab League, or an observer member, it could speak for itself, not for others to speak for us.’
Well, there’s certainly a lot to talk about. Ethiopia’s accused the Arab League of ‘meddling’ in Addis Ababa’s decision to build the Grand Renaissance Dam. The mega-project is on the Blue Nile and potentially threatens water supply to Egypt and Sudan. Currently the dispute is being mediated by the African Union, but the Arab League also wants to hold talks.
Then there’s Ethiopia’s maritime deal with Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland. The Arab League has condemned it, which has again annoyed Addis Ababa.
Despite their differences, Abiy Ahmed remains upbeat and recently said: ‘What unites Ethiopia with the Arab world is more than what divides it, and that if it were not for the tectonic separation of the Red Sea, Ethiopia would have been part of the Arab world.’
To him, joining the 22-nation organisation makes long-term sense. And there have been reports his country is lobbying the UAE in a bid to join. Ten African countries are already members, why not become the eleventh?

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's hug has not been enough to calm Mr. Abi. Now he wants more. But, there's a good chance he'll get his wish because that's what Arab league is all about to begin with.

Bingo! Shabia and Jebha told Aby slave government to adapt Arabic language and become Arab League. That is why when Aby first took power said, Ethiopians must begin speaking Arabic while he is destroying Geez/Amharic in Oromiya. He also called Orthdox Tabot "Kirakimbo"

Only an idiot would think joining the arab league. What have they achieved? Did they solve any problem in the arab world? Of course no and thousands no!!!
The arab league represents only the dictators and not the broad arab masses.

The Comoro islands is a member of the arab league, its inhabitants albeit all are adherents of Islam, they hardly speak any Arabic word other than the word asselam aleykum.
In one of the closed arab league meeting, their president complained that his country is economically challenged, he is not even able to pay the salary of his secretaries. One of the arab gulf states emir pledged that $30 million will be in his account the next day. Guess what, the Comoro island president stashed $20 million in his swiss account and the rest for his country.
Why not? I would join the Arab league

You're absolutely right. It's not worth joining the Arab League at all. I'm even among the Somalis who are campaigning for Somalia to leave this lame duck league.
