Speaking of Djibouti
The French was prepared not to give up Djibouti but to allow a sea outlet corridor to Ethiopia when the 99 years lease was up for renewal.
But Ethiopia didn’t have a leadership group to skillfully manipulate the process. Mengistu h/m was more worried about his power than the long term interest of Ethiopia.
Once again, like many African countries, Ethiopians are not capable of governing themselves.
With the right leadership the port issue can be resolved in about 20 years.
Right now, the path is to help Fano to take over and stabilize the nation by forming a transitional government.
Once that is out of the way, a new constitution will be drafted and go through the process of approval.
One thing though, Ethiopia has to deal with Tigray and Eritrea properly and decisively. The ministry of northern affairs has to be created with full budget and power to deal with it. They can’t fool around forever, Ethiopia has to stop them decisively without a war. Put them in their place.
