And, this existential agenda of the Ethiopian nation remains active irrespective of who rules the country at any given political season. When the Ethiopian people change a regime, one of their cardinal objectives is to act on this existential necessity.

My solution to your psychological predicament is to dig 100 kms down then dig a tunnel to the nearest ocean, the Indian ocean, build an island in the middle of the ocean and finally build your port. I am not sure if you would be breaking any international laws by digging a tunnel under the sovereign land of another country but no one will know if you do the digging in secret!

To say that Ethiopia has 120 million rats and one day will reach a billion rats and thus needs to own a sea port is like Eritrea saying that its economy will soon be one of the biggest in the world and thus it needs the 120 million rats Ethiopians should be given dual citizenship (Erit-Ethio) and do the menial jobs inside Eritrea (just like the 300 thousands of the agames did in the past) and pay taxes to Eritrea from their wages which they will get from the prosperous Eritrea.
