Possible reasons behind Abiy's proposal for the Federal government to administer / govern Western and Southern Tigray until referendum.
- He wants to hide the demography re-engineering that was done under his blessing by the Amhara government
- He will assign Amhara generals or his trusted generals to coerce Tigrayans in West and Southern Tigray to vote for Amhara or new independent region
- To hide all the genocidal crimes and and economic plunder that was committed by his soldiers, Eritrea, the Amhara government, and the illegal administers of Western and Southern Tigray.
- His objective is to further weaken Tigray by reducing its population, land and resources to make sure Tigray remains weak for generations to come.
- Since Tigrayans are more than 90% on average , he is afraid that the referendum will be easy win for Tigray. The control will enable him even to rig the referendum.
- He may have also promised and planned to give the Fertile lands to Isaias, Arabs ,his own corrupted investors mainly from Oromia and Amhara etc.
Is Abiy's proposal in line to the Constitution ? The answer is no!
- As per the Constitution Tigray is a sovereign state under the Federation. The Federal government or the Ethiopian Defense Forces have no constitutional authority to take over the administration of Tigray or any state .
- The Preitorea Agreement calls for the reinstatement of the sovereignty of Tigray by removing Amhara and Eritrean forces from Tigray. Furthermore it was agreed to solve the contested areas as per the Constitution .
The way forward :
- Immediate reinstatement of the sovereignty of Tigray and the resettlement of all displaced people ( Federal government)
- Identification and Pre-War( Nov 2020) Ethiopians who had been living in both West Tigray and Southern Tigray ( Joint task between Federal government and Tigray elected government)
- Exclusion of newly settled(after November 2020) Amharas, Tigrayans and other Ethiopians from the referendum list.( Joint task between Federal government and Tigray elected government)
- Referendum to be conducted as per the constitution after the election of the Tigray government and Tigray representatives reinstated in the Federal government( በምርጫ፥ ቦርድና፥ ፌዴሬሽን፥ ምክር፥ቤት) . To supervise the referendum observers to be established from the Federal government and all all Federal state .
- The fate of newly settled ( after November 2020) Ethiopians to be decided after the referendum but should be allowed to remain where they are as per the Constitution.

What demography, dumbo. All Agames in Welkayt were settlers who fled to Sudan or Western Chigray when the war started. Agame squatters will never go back.

There is no way out for Abiy other than to abide by the Constitution . You can not have your cake and eat it too!
Weyane constitution is still the law of the land because the guiding principles of the Constitution are shared by most Ethiopians and that is why the Constitution shall continue to the future with some refinement. If you do not abide by the Constitution there is no Amara, Afra, Oromia, Somalia etc. Wake up and come to your senses! Tigray gave big chunk of its mineral packed land for the creation of Afar and any move that violates the Constitution will have a ripple effect that will scatter Ethiopia. For further information learn how the USA became a super power!
