These speculations for the most part have been behind the scenes to see what may unfold from PM Abiy Ahmed and events of past 2years seem to be converging to that end with his ever egotistical agendas since the release of Sibhat Nega (at same time Abiy acquired undisclosed/mysterious billions of dollars) and since the Pretoria agreement which allowed him to save the belligerent TPLF for a 3rd time (from the hands of his allies at the time).The vigilante group Brigade Nhamedu arose in past 2-4 years strongly correlating with the military offensive & resulting defeat/surrender of the TPLF (Tigray Peoples Liberation Front) in Ethiopia. The TPLF up until 2018 had a very strong monopoly rule/grip over the Ethiopian state/government since 1991 (for almost 3 decades)...until it was finally ousted by a massive collective uprising of Ethiopian people in various regions of Ethiopia in 2018...out of which Abiy Ahmed came into the scene with the newly forming Ethiopian government.
From its very outset, the Brigade Nhamedu had pledged allegiance to the TPLF leadership and Tigray people in Ethiopia (*tigray tsier) and many of their members have been seen also waving the red/yellow flag of the TPLF and participating at various rallies in support of TPLF/Tigray in the past 4 years all across US/EU. In fact most Eritreans see/believe the Brigade Nhamedu to be comprised of 80% Tigray refugees (a troublesome region of Ethiopia and current hiding spot of terrorist TPLF). Not only that, but majority of the Brigade Nhamedu leaders & influencers have have openly professed on social media to be ethnic Tigrays from the Tigray region of Ethiopia and that they hate the Eritrean nation/identity/people.
What's ironic is that the TPLF in Tigray (when it was ruling ethiopia for last 3 decades) had for last 2 decades been the main human trafficker of Eritreans out of Eritrea and into Tigray refugee camps/prisons funded by UNCHR but administered by TPLF in Tigray region of Ethiopia. Often times with very little oversight from the UNCHR or those roles being delegated to ethnic Tigrays who were either TPLF members or bribe-able...and TPLF did pay foreign aid workers to also look the other way when the scheme could have been stopped decades ago.
From these Tigray camps, the TPLF traffickers had a vast network/connection(international partners/orgs) to transport people to multiple nations & points of entry for those that didn't qualify for the UNHCR asylum process and those they convinced they can get them out faster. They would charge people a few thousand dollars upfront and in most cases would hold people hostage along the way as ransom demanding double the thousands from their families...even in many cases selling people to organ traffickers. Of the many heinous crimes/atrocities involved is that for the many genuine Eritreans that would have qualified for UNHCR asylum, TPLF used the refugee scheme to deprive/steal from them their identity/papers to give to the TPLF's own ethnic Tigray people (& relatives of leaders). The TPLF would then keep the genuine Eritreans for years/decade in a state of limbo in the Tigray refugee/prison camps while it pocketed millions yearly from UNCHR funding for those camps...TPLF would even over populate those camps using their ethnic Tigray farmers/poor to also collect on any foods provided by UNHCR & other aid organizations.
Only way out for most true Eritreans was to pay the untrustworthy Tigray human traffickers and hope they don't get hostaged/ransomed or sold to organ traffickers along the way by the TPLF (&partners). Overall, the TPLF used the refugee scheme as a base/source of operations for their expansive human trafficking scheme to send mainly 100's-of-thousands of their ethnic Tigray group & supporters to the US/EU/Australia with falsified identities claiming to be Eritrean, when in fact they are Tigray/ethiopian persons. Most of these persons are the majority members of the Brigade Nhamedu vigilante group overseas.
The Brigade Nhamedu vegilantes (blue flag/shirts), intensified their violent campaign against diaspora Eritreans in past 1-2 years...in the wake of the staggering losses of the TPLF initiated war against Ethiopia/Eritrea. By some claims/estimates, as many as 1 to 1.5 million TPLF combatants/soldiers/militias died from the time that the well armed & organized TPLF launched their blitzkrieg/surprise attack (on November 4th-2020) through their final surrender (on November 3rd-2022, almost two years later ).
It should be noted that when PM Abiy Ahmed took over Ethiopia, he had a prime opportunity to arrest the human trafficking ring organized by the TPLF/Tigray group, but seems he was intentionally slow to act & allowed most of that crime syndicate to escape Ethiopia. Speculation is he didn't want the bad press/spot light of TPLF role to be associated with Ethiopia as the epicenter of the trade as well as the roles of some foreign entities (organizations/UNCHR & US/EU nations that enabled the TPLF human trafficking scheme). Even now there are allegations that PM Abiy Ahmed's military soldier trucks/convoys were involved in human trafficking many Eritreans to Kenya for profit while also simultaneously rounding up other undocumented/unregistered Eritreans in Ethiopia to jail for extortion/ransom.
The backdrop for these speculations of possible links between the narcissist PM Abiy Ahmed and the Brigade Nhamedu are the reemergence of Eritrea onto the world stage from decades of TPLF/US/EU isolationist schemes & unjustified sanctions to hurt Eritrea(ns)...while propping up the former TPLF/ethiopian ruling regime that was also their client state. In fact in 2018 Abiy played a good role in changing the previous foreign/TPLF engineered status quo of no war & no peace when he came to power in 2018...however that scheme was on its last leg anyway since the decades of TPLF thefts/mismanagements/political agitations and various internal wars put the Ethiopian state on the brink of imploding on itself. By the same token, Eritrean government also played a good pivotal role in saving the Ethiopian state from imploding due to the 2020-2022 wars that the well armed/organized TPLF launched hoping to regain power in Ethiopia or at the very least carving out territories from all their neighbors and declaring their long awaited threat of independence. In fact the TPLF blitzkrieg in 2020 had incapacitated a majority portion of the capable national Ethiopian military forces and sized the majority of Ethiopian military assets/weapons of the nation....however, the TPLF greatly miscalculated the good will of Eritrea(ns) to come to the aid of the Ethiopian people/government in their time of great need.
Within this backdrop, the positive notoriety of the Eritrean leadership and Eritrea(ns) only continued to shine in many fields...be it in sports/arts or international diplomacy of multipolar world. The Eritrean leadership was/is being invited on to various stages of world diplomacy as a strong voice & reliable partner in Africa, be it to China, Russia, the BRICS...even the US & EU are looking to mend relations.
While this was/is happening, the narcissist PM Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia was embroiled in his own mismanagement of the Pretoria agreement (which allowed the US/EU to save their TPLF clients) and he was losing an unjustified war against Amhara regions of Ethiopia. What's more is he betrayed the very people/regions in Ethiopia (Amhara and Oromo) that had came to his aid in his time of need, just as Eritrea had done to save him from the TPLF 2 years war.
The defeated TPLF diaspora refugees had nothing to cling on to as most of their relatives/leaders in the TPLF were either dead or defeated & surrendered to save their own lives despite costing the lives of alleged million+plus TPLF militants/soldiers/relatives in their failed endeavor. The TPLF diaspora felt totally powerless/defeated and only way they could think to avenge was by posing as an Eritrean opposition group and calling themselves Brigade Nhamedu and attacking diaspora Eritreans, since they blame Eritrea(ns) government for the defeat of their TPLF relatives.
Their hateful goal was not only to attack Eritreans & their properties & assembly in the diaspora...but to also tarnish the positive image of Eritrea(ns) internationally. For that reason they proceeded in the wanton destruction of property and even boldly attacking the police of various nations. Their intent being to inflict maximum damage to property & people, with the hope of attracting negative press/notoriety towards Eritrea(ns)...since they know most average people of international nations US/EU aren't going to be well informed on the background, to be able to determine that they are actually TPLF Tigray refugees (from troublesome region in ethiopian) behind this whole fiasco/masquerade. Their recent attack against Eritreans is perfectly timed with the TPLF celebrations of Lekatit 11 and convenient for them to gather/celebrate that and then go out in the dark to attack Eritreans/property & anyone that stood in their way, which included the police.
It is important to note that before these 2-4 years of the TPLF/ethiopia backed Brigade Nhamedu...the Eritrean diaspora community has exited well over 1/2 century in various nations as upstanding and law abiding members of the local communities/cities of where they reside...as well as being being able to quickly work & integrate into the communities and building for a better future wherever they are or go (majority of the time impacting those that come into contact with them in a positive way). For those reasons, the Eritrean diaspora community has been working tirelessly with local police/governments to make sure these TPLF/Tigray Brigade Nhamedu hooligans are brought to justice for all their initiated acts of destruction/violence towards people & property no matter how long it takes.
Given the general background of the TPLF/Tigray origin Brigade Nhamedu and their intended goals...it seems they are also being attempted as a proxy tool for the narcissists Abiy Ahmed and his TPLF allies to wage/attempt an overseas Color Revolution against Eritrea(ns) since they know no such groups exist in Eritrea amongst Eritreans...neither would Eritrean culture/unity ever allow for such a destructive collection of opportunistic hooligan scoundrels to even spring up from within Eritrean society. In fact it had been tried several times before by colonizers occupying Eritrea in past history (Ethiopians, English) and in all cases Eritreans came together to stop such hooligans and tools of foreign agendas.
Despite knowing that the Brigade Nhamedu group can not exist amongst real Eritrea(ns)...that hasn't stopped the desperate TPLF to market the name/group overseas and then try to dress their own Tigray people in borders of Eritrea to pretend to be an opposition group to attempt to attack Eritrea. So far PM Abiy Ahmed has co-signed onto the scheme of the TPLF with hopes that it will allow him to upstage the name/reliability of Eritrea(ns) in the multipolar world, also hopes to annex land/sea territory from his neighboring nations (Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Djibouti), and most importantly to distract/shift the eyes of Ethiopians away from the disastrous internal mismanagement happening under his administration. He hopes to shift attention away from current situations in Amhara, Oromo, Tigray...with his plans to build a multiBillion dollar palace/complex to last 500years (with undisclosed source of funding), despite looming famines, unjust wars he is waging in various regions of Ethiopia, and his attempts to hand Amhara land over to TPLF allies (per Pretoria agreement he signed to save TPLF)...his recent beautification of Addis Abeba and show he put on for African Presidents for African Union gathering all fall within that misdirection agenda as well.
The unhinged PM Abiy Ahmed & Shemelis group have even mentioned transplanting millions of their ethnic Oromo/Ethiopian groups as refugees into neighboring countries. Add to that social media and news groups associated with the narcissist Abiy Ahmed and his PP party having openly backed his desires to annex land/sea territory of his neighboring nations...keep in mind many of these media groups were invited to Addis Abeba Ethiopia by him months ago and given various awards/recognition and even monetary awards including offices & fully equipped media studios to be used at their full discretion/desire. One of these media personalities of Abiy Ahmed (Seyoum Teshome) was months ago openly calling for Abiy to form Eritrean opposition groups in Ethiopia (and queue in the TPLF/Tigray region) and use them as proxies against Eritrea(ns).
Despite all the shows Abiy Ahmed puts on from military shows, air shows, to city beautification/building shows, and even gardening shows...what can be seen is he has a narcissist behavior and extreme desire to be the center of the show...he will not hesitate to unethically switch alliances at the drop of a hat to the highest bidder.
Yet all these glamorous shows have not managed to hide his underbelly or cover the naked emperor. His underbelly was shown in recent months with his un-diplomatic approach to Somaliland and going behind back of Somalia to annex land/sea. Even just yesterday while hosting the African Union gathering he tried to bar an African President from attending the meetings using his PP government armed military unit. Even a few months ago he deployed the same military unit of PP to harass and physically beat up a high official of the African Development Bank, which prompted the African institution to close its offices in Ethiopia. Its bad enough he treats Ethiopia as his own Fiefdom but to go around acting as if others/nations are also subjects in his periphery is showcasing the height of his narcissism. His alter ego has openely proclaimed to be Ethiopia's 7th Emperor on national tv/media.
Isn't the timing convenient that the Brigade Nhamedu would begin diaspora attacks the day after his armed PP military services defied all diplomatic normalcy in their attempts to detain and prevent the President of Somalia from attending the African Union gathering of heads of state. Isn't it also convenient that Abiy periodically launches media campaigns against Eritrea(ns) with his multiMillion dollar paid international PR media firms...plant a misinformation story about other neighboring nations here and there, especially when a misdirection/distraction is needed for his own internal incompetence.
Despite there being many opportunists and many he has bought off to go along with and bark/amplify his egotistical misdirection topics/agendas throughout social medias and national medias...to the contrary, Abiy's erratic backstabbing flip-flopping behavior has been puzzling to the majority of the Ethiopian people (even to members of his own government), as well as to neighboring nations/peoples/governments.
