He was, as they say, being smart by half. His intention was to keep the TPLF alive so that it continues to be a thorn for Eritrea and the Amharas. It is never a good idea for children to play adult games!

Dumbo, his biggest mistake was not erasing the TPLF out of existence. Had he done that, he would have been the darling of everyone. But his days are now numbered. And will be history just like the Agames!

True, one of his mistakes was to start a war that he couldn't finish.
His war was supposedly against TPLF, but all he did was killing hundreds of thousands of Agame, as the TPLF is still there.

The idiotic PM was told by PIA that he was making a "Fatal mistake" by ordering the advancing ENDF not to cross the Tigrai border! But because Ethiopians see the Ferenjis as superior to them, Mike Hammer easily convinced the childish PeePee leader the US would support him if he ordered his army to stay out of the Tigrai border. Staying away from the cursed land border he did and the rest is history.

For me, it wasn't a mistake on the part of Colonel Abiy.
His plan has always been to subdue Amhara using TPLF, to weaken Eritrea using TPLF and to watch out TPLF from becoming out of control. In the process, he strengthen his grip on power and lead the 'Kingdom' of Oromia for many years. Alas, his neighbours to the North proved more smarter than his childish brain.

For how many years are you going to say TPLF and PP alliance would defeat Eritrea? We all know, the two can't coexist, before even they cooperate, one would try to eat the other one. TPLF is also a wounded dog who can't bit anyone due a lack of force and weaponry. Believe me, if your weaken TPLF had capability to wage war, it would have already done. The hope for the survival of the TPLF is dead.
