The US has been financing Germany to supplement its energy needs elsewhere. Putin was very angry at the US. Basically, he lost his primary revenue from the sale of petroleum chemicals to Europe. From economic point of view, Russia is a third World country compared to the US and China. It is getting poorer by the day. Potentially, it should have been the richest and prosperous country in the World. Communism and Putin style of Mafia leadership killed it. On the other hand, China, the longest super power serving up until the down of the 20th century, found a way to get back that glory again. China adopted. Cheap products and cheap labor did it. Hence, what is the deal about Somali Land, why not Djibouti. Djibouti is not cheap. Russia is dreaming for a couple of bases on the RedSea. One in Port Sudan and another in Somali Land.
