Ethiopia can be prosperous and grow without ports. What Ethiopia needs is, peace and harmony among her people.
When Ethiopia has two ports, Ethiopia was nothing but a miserable country. Her population was around 30 million people, and her economy was equal to failed state. Once Ethiopia lost the two ports, her population rose up to 80 million, her economy tripled and quadruple. There were no wars and relatively peace. I know, starting from myself, we hate to give the TPLF their props, but they had no ports and the population, and the economy grow.
What do we learn from these facts, the truth is a nation can strive if there is peace and visionary leadership. Let's say, Ethiopia gets the port of Barbra; then what? how much resources going to need develop the port? how much money going to take to base your navy? What is the distance from center of Ethiopia to Barabra port? What are the security challenges that you can in and out your merchandise safely? what is the fall out of the surrounding countries and with international community?
The list goes on. The point is Ethiopia needs to concentrate on her internal blessing and resources. Number one urgent case is, peace. the feed our people, eliminate corruption. fix the dead educational system.
